Disclosed is a security document including an image layer with in a first image area an identification image. The document has in a second image area an authentication image that is composed of a first authentication image that is a positive version of the first image and a second authentication image that is a negative version of the first image. The authentication images can be observed at different angles and form a tilt image. Mutual comparison of the positive and negative tilt images and comparison with the identification image provides improved detection of unauthorized alterations.

Disclosed is a method of forming a security document including the steps of: providing a base layer having a top side; providing a color image onto an image area of the top side by printing colored ink, on the top. A lens structure is applied over the colored ink, the lens structure having a predetermined focal plane situated at a distance from the top side, and laser engraving a black image in through the lens structure and through the colored ink to form blackened image elements substantially at or near the focal plane.

Method of providing an imprinted security feature

Disclosed is a security document including an image area, a repeating image pattern in the image area of mutually spaced image elements at a mutual distance D and a layer of a plastics material overlying the image area and an array of lenses in the plastics material. Method and apparatus for manufacturing a security document comprising a lenticular array and blurred pixel tracks

An identity card that can be used, for example, in a travel document or as a separate card, includes at least two core layers, preferably of polycarbonate material, that are fused to one another. In each of the core layers there is a recess, each of a different size. On assembly these recesses become situated on top of one another and a semiconductor chip is accommodated in the larger recess formed as a result. A covering layer can be fused to at least one of the core layers, and a layer that can be written on by laser can also be applied. There can be (semi-)transparent windows on top of one another in the core layer and if the covering layer is transparent, light can be transmitted, it being possible to define a specific pattern in the windows.
