Method and decoding device for decoding a convolutionally coded input data signal y. The input data signal is multiplied with a scaling factor L() and then demultiplexed (). The demultiplexed input data signal LS is then turbo decoded () in order to obtain decoder output likelihood ratio data &#x39b;. The scaling factor Lis updated () for a next iteration in dependence on a combination of a posteriori likelihood data based on turbo decoded output data &#x39b; and a priori likelihood data based on the demultiplexed signal LS.

Turbo decoding with iterative estimation of channel parameters

A decoding method for coded data representing original data. Corrupted data is detected and replaced with buffered data. The buffered data is stored in the buffer a time interval corresponding to an estimated periodicity or an integer multiple thereof before the corrupted data was received. The estimated periodicity is determined by estimating the periodicity of the original data represented by the corrupted data.

Method for replacing corrupted audio data

A step size is generated for use in a continuous variable slope delta (CVSD) demodulator by determining a likelihood that a group of one or more coded bits includes an erroneous bit. The step size is then generated as a function of the likelihood that the group of one or more coded bits includes an erroneous bit. For example, if the CVSD demodulator requires that the step size be increased, then the step size is increased by a larger amount if the likelihood of error is not greater than a threshold likelihood, and the step size is increased by a lesser amount if the likelihood of error is greater than the threshold likelihood.
