A centrifugal separator and a method for separation of particles from a gas stream is disclosed. The separator includes a frame, a gas inlet and a gas outlet. A centrifugal rotor is arranged to be rotatable in the frame around a rotational axis and includes a plurality of separation plates defining separation passages between the plates. A central gas chamber in the rotor communicates with a radially inner portion of the separation passages and the gas outlet. A space surrounding the rotor communicates with a radially outer portion of the separation passages and the gas inlet. A device is configured to bring the gas stream in rotation upstream of the rotor. The centrifugal rotor is configured such that the rotational flow of the gas mixture drives the rotation of the centrifugal rotor for separating particles from the same gas stream being conducted from the space surrounding the rotor, through the separation passages between the plates and towards the central gas chamber.

Centrifugal separator having a vortex generator

A centrifugal separator for separation of liquid particles from a gas stream, includes a stationary frame, a gas inlet and a gas outlet. The frame comprises a tubular element defining a rotor space inside itself and a liquid transportation space outside the tubular element. A centrifugal rotor is arranged in the rotor space and rotatably supported in the frame around a rotational axis. At least one opening is provided in the tubular element, between the rotor space and the liquid transportation space, for conducting liquid separated from the gas stream from the rotor space to the liquid transportation space.

Centrifugal separator

A centrifugal separator for separating a fluid mixture into components, including a non-rotating part, a rotor which is attached to a shaft which is rotatably supported in the non-rotating part around a rotational axis, which rotor forms within itself a separation space delimited by a rotor wall. The separator includes an inlet extending into the rotor for supply of a fluid mixture to be separated in the separation space, at least one sensor measuring unbalance conditions in the frame; a level determining arrangement including two or more space defining elements of arbitrary form arranged on the interior surface of, or close to, the rotor wall, where each space defining element defines a space which communicates with the separation space or another of the space defining elements through at least one inlet opening arranged at a certain radius from the rotational axis and not outside that radius and where that certain radii of the space defining elements are different. Methods for determining when a predetermined amount of heavy phase fluid (purification) or sludge (clarification) has been separated are also disclosed. The separator and methods make it possible to determine when the level of separated heavy phase fluid or sludge is high enough for emptying or discharge of the separator.

Centrifugal separator and method for determining suitable moment for removal of heavy phase content

A centrifugal separator for separation of particles from a gas stream is disclosed. The centrifugal separator includes a self-supporting frame for mounting inside an existing vessel for guiding the gas stream. The frame comprises a holder configured to hold the frame at a position inside the vessel, and a first partition for dividing the vessel into a first section and a second section. The first section is upstream of the second section. The separator includes a gas inlet communicating with the first section, and a gas outlet communicating with the second section. A centrifugal rotor is arranged to be rotatably supported in the frame around a rotational axis, the rotor having a first and a second end portion and including a plurality of separation plates defining separation passages between the plates. The centrifugal separator is configured such that the first and second sections communicate via the separation passages of the rotor.

A device including a centrifugal separator for cleaning of a gas, especially a gas containing impurities in the form of solid and/or liquid particles, includes a stationary casing enclosing a separation space, an inlet channel, a rotating member in the separation space for separating at least a main part of the impurities from the gas, a gas outlet channel, and an outlet for discharging a separated phase of the gas. A supply member is provided for supplying a liquid, in the form of an aerosol, to the gas to be cleaned and which comprises a supply conduit with an outlet end, and an ejector nozzle connectable to a pressurized gas conduit and including a nozzle outlet. The nozzle outlet at the outlet end permits ejection of the aerosol from the outlet end by means of the pressurized gas supplied to the ejector nozzle and the nozzle outlet.

Device comprising a centrifugal separator and a method for cleaning of a gas

A device for cleaning of crankcase gas including a centrifugal separator having a housing and a separation chamber in which a rotor is arranged. The separator is connected to a gas inlet for conducting crankcase gas from the crankcase to the centrifugal separator and a gas outlet for conducting the cleaned gas from the separator. A motor is arranged to rotate the centrifugal rotor. A sensor is provided for detection of a parameter and is arranged to communicate with the control equipment. The control equipment is operatively connected to a valve for adjusting the flow of gas through the centrifugal separator. The control equipment is arranged to change the position of the valve in response to a detected change of the parameter such that the gas pressure in the crankcase is maintained at a predetermined value.

Device and method for cleaning crankcase gas

In a centrifugal separator and method for cleaning of gas containing solid and liquid impurities. A stationary casing encloses a separation space through which gas flows. An inlet channel extends to the separation space and forms an inlet for the gas to be cleaned. A rotating member is provided in the separation space downstream the inlet and rotates about an axis of rotation. The rotating member comprises a number of separation discs and brings the gas to rotate for separating by means of centrifugal forces a main part of the impurities from the gas. A gas outlet channel is provided downstream the rotating member for discharging the cleaned gas. A first outlet is provided for discharging the impurities. A supply member is configured to permit the supply of a separation aid humidifying the particles, which aid is in the form of an aerosol, to the gas to be cleaned.

Centrifugal separator and a method for cleaning of a gas

A method and a device for separation of a fluid in the liquid state comprising two liquids that are not mutually miscible, with different densities, wherein a first liquid is to be cleansed from a second liquid, whereby the fluid in the liquid state is conducted through a rotor where centrifugal separation of the second liquid from the first liquid takes place, and is then conducted into a tank, with the proportion of the second liquid being reduced to less than 5%, and by conducting the fluid, after centrifugal separation, through a restriction, whereby the pressure of the fluid in the liquid state is reduced, which causes portions of the fluid in the liquid state to evaporate so that further portions of the second liquid escape in the form of a gas which is conducted away, thereby further reducing the proportion of the second liquid in the outgoing fluid in the liquid state.

Method and device for separation of a liquid fluid by centrifugal separation and evaporation

The invention refers to a centrifugal separator for cleaning of a gas containing liquid impurities. The centrifugal separator comprises a stationary casing, which encloses a separation space and has an inner wall surface. A rotating member is provided in the separation space and arranged to rotate in a direction of rotation around an axis (x) of rotation. The rotating member brings the gas to rotation for separation of the liquid impurities from the gas. A gas outlet is provided for discharge of the cleaned gas. A first liquid outlet is provided downstream the rotating member for discharge of separated liquid impurities. The separation space comprises an annular surface which extends between the rotating member and the inner wall surface. The annular surface is configured to transport liquid impurities radially outwardly to the first liquid outlet.

In a centrifugal separator for cleaning a gas containing liquid impurities, a stationary casing encloses a separation space having an inner wall surface. An inlet is provided. A rotating member is provided in the separation space downstream the inlet rotates in a direction of rotation around an axis of rotation. The rotating member brings the gas to rotation in the direction of rotation for separation of liquid impurities from the gas. A gas outlet is provided downstream the rotating member for discharge of the cleaned gas. A first liquid outlet is provided upstream the gas outlet and downstream the rotating member for discharge of separated liquid impurities and comprises an outlet hole. A surrounding ring groove extends outwardly from the inner wall surface in the stationary casing and has a surrounding bottom surface, wherein the outlet hole extends outwardly from the bottom surface.

In a centrifugal separator for cleaning a gas comprising liquid impurities, a stationary casing encloses a separation space having an inner wall surface. The separator comprises an inlet for the gas. A rotating member rotates around and brings the gas to rotation for separation of at least a main part of the liquid impurities from the gas. A gas outlet is provided downstream the rotating member for discharge of the cleaned gas. A first liquid outlet discharges the liquid impurities and comprises an outlet hole. An annular surface extends inwardly from the wall surface and is located downstream the outlet hole. The first liquid outlet comprises an annular shield element extending from the annular surface at a distance and radially inside the outlet hole. The shield element and the annular surface form an annular groove radially inside the outlet hole.

This document describes a device for cleaning of crankcase gases from a combustion engine, and a combustion engine having such a device. An inlet conduit is connected to a crankcase of the combustion engine. A centrifugal separator receives a flow of crankcase gases from the crankcase via the inlet conduit and comprises a routable centrifuge rotor for centrifuging the crankcase gases. A drive device drives the centrifuge rotor. An outlet conduit discharges cleaned crankcase gases from the centrifugal separator. The rotary speed of the drive device, and thus the rotary speed of the centrifuge rotor, is controllable depending on the gas pressure in the crankcase. An export conduit may be connected to the inlet conduit and adapted to enable discharge of a flow of crankcase gases from the crankcase by-passing the centrifugal separator depending on the gas pressure in the crankcase. An import conduit may be connected to the inlet conduit and adapted to enable feeding of a flow of air from the surroundings to the crankcase depending on the gas pressure in the crankcase.

Device for cleaning of crankcase gases

Upon cleaning of crankcase gas generated during operation of an internal combustion engine in its crankcase, a centrifugal separator is used, which includes a rotor arranged for rotation by means of a driving motor and arranged by its rotation suck crankcase gas from the crankcase through a conduit to the centrifugal separator. During operation of the combustion engine a parameter, e.g. a measurement of the load on the combustion engine is sensed, the magnitude of said parameter being related to the amount of crankcase gas generated per unit of time in the crankcase. Depending upon a sensed change of the sensed parameter the rotational speed of the rotor of the centrifugal separator is changed in a way such that the gas pressure in the crankcase is maintained at a predetermined value, or within a predetermined pressure interval, during the operation of the combustion engine.

Method and a device for cleaning of crankcase gas

An apparatus for cleaning of crankcase gas coming from an internal combustion engine can be carried by and be releasably coupled to the combustion engine. For this purpose the apparatus comprises an adapter element, which can be connected with the combustion engine, and a housing, which can be releasably coupled to the adapter element and which delimits a separation chamber. The housing supports in the separation chamber a centrifugal rotor that is rotatable about a vertical rotational axis and is arranged for cleaning of the crankcase gas. The centrifugal rotor has a drive shaft extending downwards through a bottom in the separation chamber and into a drive chamber, in which the drive shaft carries a turbine wheel. A nozzle is arranged to spray pressurized lubricating oil against the turbine wheel for rotation thereof and of the centrifugal rotor. The adapter element is intended to abut against the combustion engine by means of an abutment surface, which has a first opening for receiving pressurized lubricating oil from the combustion engine and a second opening for returning to the combustion engine from the drive chamber lubricating oil having been used for driving of the centrifugal rotor. Said first opening communicates through a channel in the adapter element with the nozzle and said second opening communicates through an outlet channel in the adapter element with the drive chamber.
