A pliers-type cutting tool has two tool legs which cross at a joint pin and are pivotable about an axis of rotation in a pivot plane with respect to one another. The tool legs form gripping portions on one side of the joint pin and a pliers mouth on the other side. Cutting of the pliers mouth pass into a position one over the other, at least radially on the outside, for the first time in a closing region. The cutting edges have in the position one over the other only in the closing region a particular free length on this central plane, and that over the free length a greatest opening width is present along an intermediate length on the central plane, and that the greatest opening width makes up a third or more of the total length of the cutting edges.

A hand tool has first and second tool legs that are connected in a pivot region and which overlap in an overlapping region both in an open state of the hand tool and in a closed state of the hand tool. The tool legs interact with a spring such that the tool legs can be pivoted, even beyond a basic open position, into an extended open position by the user in applying manual force against the force of the spring, the spring coming into action in the case of the additional pivot movement of the hand tool legs beyond the basic open position and/or in the case of a closing pivoting movement of the hand tool legs acts on different bearing surfaces of the hand tool legs.

A hand tool comprising two tool halves arranged crossing one another in a joint region, like tongs or scissors, wherein a tool half forms a working region on one side of the joint region and a handle region on the other side, wherein each handle region is arranged in a first or second handle sleeve and the handle sleeve is provided with a functional part projecting in relation to a flat surface extending over a substantial portion of the surface of the handle sleeve. In order to advantageously further improve a hand tool of this type, the functional part is adhered or welded to the first and/or second handle sleeve.
