One embodiment of the disclosure provides a method performed by a first component part of a base station. The first component part comprises one of a central unit and a radio unit. The base station further comprises a second component part, which comprises the other of the central unit and the radio unit. The method comprises: receiving a user data stream to be transmitted to the second component part, the user data stream comprising a plurality of data samples which are for transmission by the base station over an air interface, or which have been received by the base station over the air interface; applying first and second scaling factors to the data samples to generate a scaled user data stream, wherein the first scaling factor is updateable every first plurality of data samples, wherein the second scaling factor is updateable every second plurality of data samples, and wherein the second plurality of data samples is less than the first plurality of data samples; and transmitting the scaled user data stream and an indication of the first and second scaling factors to the second component part.

Methods, apparatus and machine-readable mediums for signalling in a base station

A method for configuring transmission order of uplink data, the method performed by a radio equipment ('RE') of an access node. The RE has a RE controller ('REC')-RE interface that communicatively couples the RE with a REC of the access node. The method includes receiving instructions from the REC that indicate a scheduling prioritization for transmission by the RE of uplink data between the RE and the REC over the REC-RE interface. The uplink data can be received by the RE on the radio interface. The method can further include transmitting the uplink data on the REC-RE interface according to the instructions, resulting in the scheduling prioritization of the uplink data.

Configuration of transmission order of uplink data

In mobile communications networks, requirements on signal distortion may be fulfilled at a lower bit rate, or alternatively quantization noise be reduced for a given bit rate, by including fractional exponent bits in a block floating point format. One or more fractional exponent bits may apply to all samples in the block. Alternatively, fractional bits may apply to sub-blocks within the block. The optimal number of fractional bits depends on the number of samples in the block.

Efficient transfer of IQ sample data

The method comprises providing instructions to the RE how to prioritize transmission order of uplink data. There is presented mechanisms for providing information for determining beamforming weights or decoding user data for terminal devices. A method is performed by an RE of an access node. The RE has an interface to an REC of the access node. The method comprises obtaining information from the terminal devices to be used by the REC for determining the beamforming weights or decoding the user data. The method comprises selecting, according to a selection criterion, a part of the information to be provided to the REC in order for the REC to determine the beamforming weights or decode the user data based on the selected part of the information. The method comprises providing the selected part of the information to the REC over the interface.

Methods and devices for determination of beamforming information

There are provided mechanisms for configuring resolution of uplink data. An exemplary radio equipment controller (REC) of an access node includes an interface (RCE-RE interface) to a radio equipment (RE) and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to cause the REC to provide instructions to the RE regarding a resolution in time and/or frequency domain with which beam direction reports are to be transmitted to the REC on the REC-RE interface. The beam direction reports are based on uplink appointed reference symbols for sounding received by the RE on a radio interface and is to be transmitted from the RE to the REC. The REC may thus configure the resolution of the beam direction reports that are received by the REC.

Configuration of resolution of uplink data

A method for configuring an RE of an access node, performed by an REC of the access node. The REC has an REC-RE interface to the RE. The method comprises determining scheduling and allocation of radio resources. The radio resources are to be used by the RE when communicating over a radio interface in a scheduled TTI. The method comprises configuring, in advance of the scheduled TTI, the RE to, in the scheduled TTI, operate according to the determined allocation of radio resources and communicate with the REC according to the determined scheduling. The method comprises communicating data with the RE in the scheduled TTI according to the determined scheduling.

Configuration of a radio equipment of an access node

A method is performed by a radio equipment (RE) of an access node. The RE has an interface to a radio equipment controller (REC) of the access node. The method comprises configuring the resources for at least one of uplink reception and downlink transmission selectively using beamforming weights determined either based on internal information obtained locally in the RE, or based on external information received from the REC over the interface.

Resource configuration of wireless devices

A method for configuring resolution of uplink data, performed by an REC of an access node. The REC has an REC-RE interface to an RE of the access node. The method comprises providing instructions to the RE regarding with which resolution in time and/or frequency domain the uplink data is to be transmitted to the REC on the REC-RE interface. A method of allocating tasks in a node of a telecommunication network, wherein the node comprises a main processing unit which is configured to process tasks in association with one or more of a plurality of peripheral processing units, the peripheral processing units arranged in a hierarchical tree topology comprising one or more branches at one or more hierarchical levels. The method comprises the steps of: receiving a request to process a task; determining a temperature status of branches in the hierarchical tree topology, wherein the temperature status of a branch is related to the temperature of a processing unit coupled to the branch; and allocating the task to one or more processing units, based on the temperature status of the branches in the hierarchical tree topology.

A radio base station for use in a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access network. The radio base station comprises a receiver for receiving radio signals transmitted over the air by users, and a first processor for processing the received signals in order to recover signals for a first group of users, the 'cancellers', and a first set of control signals for a second group of users, the 'cancellees'. The radio base station further comprises an interference canceller for performing interference cancellation on the received signals using the recovered signals in order to generate an interference cancelled signal, a second processor for subsequently processing the interference cancelled signal in order to recover a second set of control signals for the cancellees, and a controller for using the control signals to control the transmission of data towards said cancellees.

Handling control channels in a WCDMA system

Method and apparatus are described for controlling base station transmit power (downlink) to a mobile station during soft diversity handover. The present invention adjusts downlink power of the ratio between downlink transmit powers of all of the involved base stations is equal to the received signal strengths from the mobile stations at each of the involved base stations.
