An insulation device for a coating system for coating objects, the coating system having an electrostatically operating application apparatus having a dispensing device which dispenses a coating material, and at least one storage container which is connected to an input valve device via an inlet line and to the dispensing device via a supply line. The insulation device comprises a channel with a physical body which can move in the channel. The physical body has an electrically insulating material and can be moved by means of a fluid pressure between a park position and an insulation position and is designed such that, when it moves from the park position to the insulation position or from the insulation position to the park position, the physical body removes material from an inner casing surface of the channel, so that an electrical insulation path can be formed between the storage container and the input valve device.

A nozzle head for a rotary atomizer for applying a coating material to an object includes a rotary bell, which is rotatable about an axis of rotation and has a breakaway edge and a discharge surface to which the coating material can be supplied in such a way that the coating material is spun off from the breakaway edge of the rotary bell. Coating material can be supplied to the discharge surface via a flow path. The flow path is divided in a delivery region into sub-paths, each having a delivery opening which is arranged eccentrically to the axis of rotation of the rotary bell and from which the coating material, which arrives from there at the discharge surface, can be delivered. A rotary atomizer having a nozzle head of this type is also described.

A high rotation atomizer functioning with inner charging includes a high-voltage circuit which generates a high voltage that can be applied to a bell cup, from a low voltage. This high-voltage circuit includes a measuring resistor in a circuit path between the turbine casing of the turbine driving the bell cup and ground. A first measuring voltage can be tapped at this first measuring resistor, which voltage is a measure for the voltage applied at the turbine casing. A second measuring resistor is placed in a circuit path between the turbine casing and ground. A second measuring voltage is tapped at this resistor, which is likewise a measure for the voltage applied at the turbine casing. If the information gained from the two measuring voltages deviates too strongly from each other, then the control device triggers an error signal. By this means, the safety of the entire system is increased.

High rotation atomizer functioning with internal charging

An electrical field is generated between an application device and an object to be coated. At least one corona electrode associated with the application device is connected to ground, and at least one counter electrode associated with the object is connected at least at intervals to a positive potential. A system for electrostatically coating objects having an application device coating material, and an electrical field device having a high-voltage source which generates an electrical field between the application device and an object to be coated. The field device comprises at least one corona electrode associated with the application device, and at least one counter electrode associated with the object, wherein, during the operation of the device, the at least one corona electrode is connected to ground, and the at least one counter electrode is connected at least at intervals to a positive potential.

Method for electrostatically coating objects and application device

A valve for use in conjunction with an application device having a valve housing and a valve spindle which bears a sealing element at a first free end outside the valve housing and, within the valve housing, is mounted displaceably between a closed position and a release position. The valve spindle includes at least one first piston element and at least one second piston element, wherein the first piston element is guided in a first piston space and the second piston element is guided in a second piston space, said piston spaces being bounded by the valve housing. A pressure fluid can be supplied in each case to the first piston space and to the second piston space in such a manner that a force acting in the same direction is exerted on the first piston element and on the second piston element.

A bell plate is rotated about a rotational axis, and coating material is supplied to a discharge surface of the bell plate such that the coating material is projected away from the bell plate. A working fluid is blown at least temporarily as a transonic or supersonic flow onto the coating material coming from the bell plate by means of a dispensing device. Furthermore, a spray head for a rotary atomizer is provided for applying a coating material to an object, having a bell plate which can be rotated about a rotational axis and which has a discharge surface, wherein coating material can be supplied to the discharge surface such that the coating material is projected away from the bell plate. A dispensing device which can blow a working fluid at least temporarily as a transonic or supersonic flow onto the coating material coming from the bell plate.

The invention relates to an applicator connection unit for an application robot for coating objects having supply lines for an applicator. An applicator can be fastened on the applicator connection unit in such a way that working lines of the applicator are connected to the supply lines of the applicator connection unit. The applicator connection unit is formed as an adapter unit in such a way that at least one applicator of a first mode of operation and one applicator of a second mode of operation can be releasably and replaceably fastened to the applicator connection unit. The invention further relates to an application robot and a system for coating objects, wherein such an applicator connection unit is used.

An electrical separating unit is disclosed for a fluid conveying line, in particular a paint conveying line, which has an elongated separating pipe that can be freed or closed at its ends by separating valves. The interior of the separating pipe can be brought by a compressor to a pressure that is significantly above atmospheric pressure or can be evacuated by a suction pump to a pressure that is significantly below atmospheric pressure. In both cases the electrical resistance of the separating unit has a significantly higher value than if a pipeline over a corresponding length was only freed from paint, solvent, or cleaning agent, and was filled with air.

A reservoir for powdery media, in particular powder coating, comprises a housing having at least one inlet and at least one outlet for the powdery medium. A fluidising floor of porous, air-permeable material is located in the interior of the housing at a distance from its base. A pressure chamber which is chargeable with compressed air is located between the fluidising floor and the base of the housing. The outlet has the shape of an upwardly open funnel which is located in the lower partial zone of the housing adjacent to the fluidising floor. In this way well-mixed powdery medium the grain-size distribution of which corresponds to the maximum extent to that of the fluidised powdery medium inside the reservoir is always withdrawn.

A reservoir for powdery media, in particular powder coating, comprises a housing having at least one inlet and an outlet. A fluidising floor of porous, air-permeable material is located in the interior of the housing at a distance from its base. In this way a pressure chamber which is chargeable with compressed air is formed between the fluidising floor and the base of the housing. In order to reduce the quantity of compressed air required for fluidising and to keep low the mechanical stress imposed on the powdery medium when in the fluidised state, the cross-section of the housing narrows downwardly towards the fluidising floor. In addition, this shape of the housing generates turbulence in the fluidised powdery material.

A high-speed rotary atomiser for applying powder coating includes a housing together with a rotatable bell disc arranged at the front of housing A guidance air arrangement in the form of a rotationally symmetrical air guidance body coaxial to bell disc is provided for shaping the powder cloud generated by the high-speed rotary atomizer, which air guidance body is mounted on the front of housing. Air guidance body has a jacket surface to which guidance air be so supplied that it flows forwards along jacket surface as a substantially rotationally symmetrical air curtain along jacket surface. The air curtain flowing over the jacket surface of air guidance body impinges on the powder cloud generated by bell disc and shapes it according to the quantity and velocity of the air curtain and according to the geometry of air guidance body.

High-speed rotary atomizer for applying powder coating

An installation for coating objects with a powder, in particular for powder painting, comprises a booth, in which powder can be applied to the objects, a recovery device for the excess powder, which does not adhere to the objects during coating, a storage container for fresh powder and a mixing container, which can be supplied with excess powder from the recovery device and fresh powder from the storage container. A screening machine is arranged in the immediate vicinity of the mixing container, preferably directly beneath the latter, and serves at the same time as an application container, in which mixed powder can be temporarily stored for removal by the application device. The screening machine is not subjected to any low-frequency vibrations, so that a weighing device, which continuously measures the weight of the screening machine, measures the instantaneous consumption of mixed powder in real time. From the stored data, an unambiguous correlation between the quantity of powder dispensed at a particular point in time and the object coated at the point in time in question is possible, so that in the event of faults in the coating operation any defective objects can be determined.

Installation for coating objects with a powder

A high-speed rotary atomizer for applying powder coating includes a housing to the front end of which a bell disc is rotatably mounted. Bell disc is driven by a motor arranged inside housing. At least one powder supply channel passes through housing, and emerges at the front of housing. This channel contains an acceleration jet in which the coating powder particles are accelerated to a higher velocity which is maintained over at least a certain distance. The increased velocity, preferably supported by acceleration air forming a surface layer, prevents coating powder particles from being deposited on the walls of powder supply channel. In this way an insulating section is formed by which a backflash of the high voltage used to ionise the coating powder particles, from the internal electrode of the high-speed rotary atomizer towards the powder supply, is prevented.

A high-speed rotary atomizer for applying powder coating comprises in a known manner a housing ( ), in which a motor ( ) is accommodated. The motor ( ) rotates a bell-shaped plate ( ) which is disposed at the front of the housing ( ). At least one powder supply duct ( ) leads through the housing and opens at the front of the housing ( ). Its cross section can therefore be kept very large, thereby increasing the powder output of the high-speed rotary atomizer. This also enables a plurality of powder supply ducts ( ) to be laid, which in turn results in a higher powder throughput and improved homogeneity of the powder cloud which is produced.
