A method for charging a cell of an electric energy store includes setting the cell into a charging mode; determining a first and a second impedance characteristic, each representative of a complex alternating current impedance of the cell; determining a first and a second temperature characteristic on the basis of the impedance characteristics, each representative of a temperature of the cell; determining a deviation in the temperature characteristics; and reducing a charging current of the cell in the event that the deviation exceeds a specified temperature threshold value.

An electrical circuit that enables a determination of a first voltage present inside a battery cell includes an oscillating circuit having a coil and a component, the electrical capacity of which depends on the voltage present on the component, and a reference electrode. The component can be a varactor diode. A method for charging a battery cell is provided. The equivalent circuit includes at least one RC element having an ohmic resistor R, a capacitor C, and a series resistor Rs. The series resistor Rs is determined by an impedance measurement.

A method for the correction of synchronization errors Δt in the measurement of the impedance of an electrical or electrochemical component, more particularly a lithium ion cell is provided. In general, synchronization errors in an impedance measurement can arise between the excitation and response signals, which can misrepresent the phase of the impedance value obtained. According to the method, the synchronization error can be determined by measuring the impedance at two different frequencies and solving an optimization problem in respect of the deviation of the phases from an equivalent circuit diagram, which comprises at least one resistance and an inductance. The phase of the impedance value obtained can be corrected in this way.

A method for determining an operating temperature of a battery cell in which (i) a value of a measure variable for determining an external temperature of the battery cell is detected, (ii) an internal temperature of the battery cell is determined by detecting an electrical impedance of the battery cell, and (iii) a value of the operating temperature of the battery cell is determined from the external and/or the internal temperature. The internal temperature of the battery cell in a first operating state of the battery cell is determined more frequently when the value of the determined external temperature, the internal temperature and/or the operating temperature lies within a predefined first safe range, and is determined less frequently when the value of the determined external temperature, the internal temperature and/or the operating temperature lies outside the predefined first safe range.

A calibration method includes (a) connecting a impedance measuring device to an impedance standard which has at least two excitation terminals for feeding an excitation signal and two measuring terminals for determining a measurement signal, and which has a fixed or adjustable impedance which corresponds to the impedance target; (b) applying a voltage signal to the excitation terminals and measuring the current flowing through the impedance standard due to the voltage signal at the measuring terminals; or supplying a current signal to the excitation terminals and measuring the dropping voltage at the measuring terminals; and (c) calibrating the impedance measuring device against the impedance standard to the impedance target. The detection device includes at least one pressure sensor arranged in the interior space of the battery housing, which is configured to detect a pressure signal in the interior space of the battery housing, and an evaluation unit, which is configured to identify the damage to the battery housing based on the pressure signal detected by the pressure sensor. The method also determines a second value on the basis of the first value. The second value corresponds to a temperature of the battery cell. The method monitors the battery cell on the basis of the second value. It is possible to determine whether the battery cell is in a fault-free state or in a state which is faulty, problematic, or critical.
