A method for handling biometric templates is disclosed for an authenticating device applying biometric authentication. The method comprises acquiring a set of biometric data associated with a prospect user, and acquiring a decryption key (associated with an encrypted biometric template associated with an enrolled user of the authenticating device) from a key carrying device external to the authenticating device responsive to the key carrying device being in a vicinity of the authenticating device. The method also comprises retrieving, from a storage medium, at least a part of the encrypted biometric template associated with the enrolled user, decrypting the retrieved part of the biometric template using the acquired decryption key and performing an attempt to authenticate the prospect user as the enrolled user based on a comparison between the acquired set of biometric data and the decrypted part of the biometric template.

Biometric template handling

The present invention relates to a combined fingerprint sensing and body area network communication system for communication with an electronic unit using the body of a user as communication medium, comprising: a sensing arrangement and a body area network communication circuitry. The system is controllable between: a fingerprint sensing state, in which a first signal corresponding to the finger potential is provided to a connection electrode and a readout circuitry is controlled to provide sensing signals indicative of the capacitive coupling between each sensing structure and the user's finger; and a body area network communication state in which a second signal is provided to the connection electrode by a first of the electronic unit and the body area network communication circuitry to the other one of the electronic unit and the body area network communication circuitry.

Fingerprint sensing and body area network communication system

A cellular communication terminal is configured to function as a mouse for a proximately located computer. The cellular communication terminal includes a cellular transceiver, a communication interface, an accelerometer, and a controller. The cellular transceiver is configured to communicate over a wireless cellular interface with a cellular network. The communication interface is configured to be communicatively coupled to the proximately located computer. The accelerometer is configured to generate acceleration information that is indicative of movement of the terminal. The controller is configured to communicate through the cellular transceiver with the cellular network according to a cellular communication protocol, and to selectively operate in a mouse mode during which the controller generates terminal movement information based on the acceleration information from the accelerometer and communicates the terminal movement information through the communication interface to the proximately located computer. The communication interface may be a short-range wireless communication transceiver and/or a wired interface, such as a USB interface. Related terminals and methods are disclosed for using the terminal to provide mouse type functions for a user application in the terminal and/or an application on a remotely located communication device.

Cellular communication terminals and methods that sense terminal movement for cursor control

An acceleration reference device comprises an accelerometer that is configured to generate acceleration information that is indicative of movement of the device; a communication interface that is configured to be communicatively coupled to a proximately located computer; a controller that is configured to generate movement information based on the acceleration information from the accelerometer and to communicate the acceleration information through the communication interface to the proximately located computer. The acceleration reference device cooperates with a cellular communication terminal configured to function as a mouse for the proximately located computer or for itself. Related terminal systems and methods are disclosed for using the device to provide mouse type functions.

A method of configuring an electronic device to be operable with an electronic apparatus. The method comprises obtaining at least one image associated with the electronic apparatus, submitting a request for identifying the electronic apparatus to at least one data repository, said request including the at least one image, receiving from the at least one data repository configuration data associated with the electronic apparatus and configuring the electronic device using the configuration data. An electronic device that may be configured according to the disclosed method is also disclosed.

Methods of configuring an electronic device to be operable with an electronic apparatus based on automatic identification thereof and related devices

A charging-cable includes a charger-connector for connecting the charging-cable to a USB connector in a charger, and a device-connector for connecting the charging-cable to a portable device. The charger-connector includes USB-terminals arranged so that a first USB-terminal can connect to the Vsignal, a second USB-terminal can connect to the Dsignal, a third USB-terminal can connect to the Dsignal and a fourth USB-terminal can connect to the ground signal of a USB connector. The device-connector includes device-terminals connected to the portable device so that a first device-terminal connects to a ground terminal and a second device-terminal connects to a charging terminal of the portable device. Moreover, the first USB-terminal is connected to one of the second or third USB-terminals via a first circuit. Furthermore, the other of the second or third USB-terminals is connected to the second device-terminal via a third circuit.
