The light-guiding optical system comprises at least one light source () and a light guide () for coupling and guiding light rays () emitted by a light source (). Furthermore, the light guide () may comprise a decoupling surface () on its rear side () and an output surface () for the exit of light rays () decoupled by the decoupling surface () on an opposite front side (). The decoupling surface () comprises: (i) first decoupling elements () configured to decouple light rays () falling onto the first decoupling elements () out of the light guide () approximately in a pre-determined first output direction (p) to fulfill a first light function, and (ii) a second decoupling element () configured to uncouple light rays () falling onto the second decoupling elements () out of the light guide () approximately in a pre-determined second output direction (d), which is deflected from the first output direction (p), to fulfill the second light function.

Light-guiding optical system, especially for motor vehicles

A light device for a motor vehicle is provided that contains a rod-like light guide () having a longitudinal axis () connecting two ends of the light guide (), and a primary light source () at least one of the ends of the light guide () for emitting primary light rays () in the light guide (). The light guide () comprises a front output surface () for the output of the primary light rays () and at a rear side () of the light guide () unbinding elements () to direct the primary light rays () propagating along the light guide () to the output surface (). The light device further comprises at least one reflector unit () that contains a secondary light source () for emitting secondary light rays () and a reflector () adapted to reflect and direct the secondary light rays () in the form of a light stream () to the light guide (), wherein in the lateral cross-section the light stream () has a shape of a band () having a longitudinal axis () being substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis () of the light guide (), and the rear side () of the light guide () comprises a binding area () including binding surfaces (a) configured to bind the secondary light rays () to the light guide ().

Light device with a rod-like light guide for a motor vehicle

A light guiding optical system comprising a light guide at least partially formed of an optically transparent material and a light source situated on an input surface of the light guide. The light guide comprises on its front side an output surface for the output of light rays conducted through and out of the light guide, and on its rear side a tooth-like structure to unbind light rays through the output surface out of the light guide. The light guiding optical system further comprises a reflector at least partially formed of an optically transparent material, positioned near the tooth-like structure, and comprising at least two reflective surfaces configured to totally reflect light rays that have escaped from the light guide through the tooth-like structure and to return them to the light guide.

Light guiding optical system

The light device for motor vehicles comprises a carrier case, a translucent cover, and an inner chamber where the light source and a linear light guide are mounted. A part of the light guide's outer casing forms the output surface for exiting light rays. Light guide's body comprises an active part for output of light rays from the light device, and an inactive part not visible in viewing inner chamber through translucent cover. Light guide includes a case comprising two arms, either one having at least one contact area on its inner surface to attach light guide in its mounting position therebetween. The distance between the contact areas can be increased during introduction of the light guide into its mounting position, and subsequently reduced after mounting of light guide to a distance at which the light guide surface is in contact with the arm contact areas.

Light device for motor vehicles

A light device comprises an elongated light guide () and a LED source () seated in the light guide entry part () for emitting the light beam into the light guide (). The entry part of the light guide comprises mutually intersecting parts of at least two ellipsoids () arranged with their main axes () next to each other. The LED light sources are fitted in the first focuses () of the ellipsoids for emission of light beams and their reflection from the elliptic walls () thereof to the second focuses () thereof, laying inside the light guide in different distances from the first focuses. The distance between the first focus () and the second focus () of the first ellipsoid () preferably equals at least 1.5 times the distance between the first focus () and the second focus () of the second ellipsoid ().

Light device

A lightguide module having a linear collimator produced from optically transparent material, a toroidal lens produced from optically transparent material, and a light source, wherein the toroidal lens is disposed between the linear collimator and the light source, at the exit of the linear collimator are found scattering elements, and wherein a light-emitting part of the light source is directed toward an entry surface of the toroidal lens and an exit surface of the toroidal lens is directed toward entry surfaces of the linear collimator. The light source may be a light-emitting diode and the toroidal lens may be a Fresnel type lens.

Lightguide module

Feeding device for a geometrically closed lightguide () of the signal lamps of motor vehicles placed on both sides of the vehicle comprising a light feeder () and a geometrically closed lightguide (). The two parts are joined and form a single plastic molding. A prism-shaped cavity () with total internal light reflection for a uniform light distribution at both sides of the enclosed lightguide () is formed at the site of their joint. A semi-transparent insert () is inserted in the prism-shaped cavity (), made of material with a precise ratio of transparent and cloudy components to control the amount of unwanted light arising on the planar surfaces () of the prism-shaped cavity () with total internal light reflection.

Feeding device for a geometrically closed lightguide

A light guide and module for motor vehicles that directs light generally along a horizontal axis. The module includes an array of light sources, an array of reflectors and a light guide. The light guide defines a body having opposed upper and lower walls. Formed in the lower wall is at least one prismatic structure having a reflecting surface oriented to reflect light based the principle of total internal reflection and to redirect light toward the upper wall. Formed in the upper wall is at least one decoupling prism element. The decoupling prism elements corresponding in number to the prismatic structures and are located in the upper wall so as to receive redirected light from its corresponding prismatic structures. The decoupling prism element includes a second reflecting surface that reflects light redirected from the first reflecting surface. This second reflecting surface reflects light toward an output surface of the decoupling prism element based on the principle of total internal reflection and defines a vertical spread of light. With the present invention, light emitted from the output surface of the decoupling prism element can be directed generally along the horizontal axis when the upper surface is oriented significantly less than 90&#xb0; relative to the horizontal axis.

Variable planar light guide module

Front side lighting device for motor vehicles is placed on both sides of the front of the vehicle. The device includes a compact reflector and a light source whose light beam is asymmetrical, with an angle (&#x3b2;) of an outer spread being greater than angle (&#x3b1;) of an inner spread. The device is activated either on both sides of the vehicle, in the case of low visibility, or only on the left or right side of the vehicle, during curve driving and/or turning. The side of activation is given by a steering wheel angle or by a turn signal switch and lighting mode is controlled by a speed sensor of the vehicle.
