A Coriolis flow sensor with a Coriolis tube that is fastened in a housing and that can be excited with a certain frequency, wherein a balancing mass (inertia) is arranged with rotational flexibility between the tube fastening and the housing. In particular, a spring steel plate is used for providing a connection rigidity between the balancing mass and the housing, which plate comprises a fixed portion and a movable portion cut out from the fixed portion, wherein the incisions are formed such that the fixed and movable portions are interconnected via resilient plate portions, which resilient plate portions are in particular elongate strips lying in one line and realizing a rotational flexibility (torsion), while abutments are provided which limit the amplitude of movements of the balancing mass.

Coriolis flow sensor with resiliently suspended balancing mass

Coriolis mass flowmeter comprising a flow tube, at least one tube position sensor provided with a light source and with a light detector for receiving light from the light source, and drive means for causing the tube to move about an axis, the above being arranged such that the tube or a projection fastened to the tube, for example a vane, moves through a light path between the light source and the light detector, wherein a first screen with a first light-transmitting opening is placed at the side of the light source and a second screen with a second light-transmitting opening is placed at the side of the light detector, wherein the first and the second opening are identical and are correspondingly oriented, and wherein the openings are mutually parallel and aligned so as to form a prismatic light beam on the detector.

Coriolis mass flowmeter with optical position sensors

A mass flowmeter of the Coriolis type with a tube through which a medium flows during operation and with excitation elements for causing the entire tube or part thereof to perform a rotational vibration about a primary axis of rotation during operation. The excitation elements are electromagnetic and do not make contact with the tube during operation and have no components that are fastened to the tube. The tube is made of an electrically conducting material, and the excitation elements include first members for causing an electric current to flow through the tube during operation and second elements for generating a magnetic field at the area of a portion of the tube. The magnetic field is perpendicular to the direction of the current and in operation either the current or the magnetic field changes its sign periodically.

Mass flowmeter of the Coriolis type

A mass flowmeter of the Coriolis type with a tube that forms a mechanically closed loop through which a medium flows during operation, and with preferably electromagnetic, contactless excitation elements for causing the loop to rotate in an oscillatory mode about an axis of rotation during operation. The loop has a starting point and an end point. The starting and end points are situated close together and are connected to a flexible inlet tube and a flexible outlet tube, respectively, which extend preferably in parallel and close together. The loop is resiliently suspended from the frame of the flowmeter via the flexible inlet and outlet tubes, which preferably form one integral piece with the tube of the loop.
