A method for handling DL and UL HARQ transmissions for a UE. The method includes performing a first HARQ transmission including information related to a single HARQ process to the UE with an associated new data indicator, NDI. Toggling of the NDI indicates at least a change of information of the single HARQ process over a previous HARQ transmission and the first HARQ transmission moreover starting a C-DRX inactivity timer, and determining that a HARQ NACK has been received for the transmitted information from the UE. The method includes detecting a measurement gap has started and awaiting an end of the measurement gap. If the C-DRX inactivity timer has not expired at a time where the measurement gap has ended, then performing a second HARQ transmission of the information, with associated NDI to the UE for the single HARQ process. The value of the NDI is toggled in relation to a value of the NDI of the first HARQ transmission.

Data indicator handling for HARQ transmissions during C-DRX mode

Method for a User Entity, UE, being adapted to transmit uplink data according to a NR TDD scheme, with a NR bases station, gNB, the UE being further adapted to transmit HARQ-ACK information, being an ACK or a NACK for received data on a downlink channel and a Scheduling Request, SR, may be provided comprising an indication of data or no data to be pending for transmittal on the up-link. The method comprises-establishing if HARQ-ACK info is available in a slot (), —establishing if an SR-PUCCH is present in the slot (), —if no SR-PUCCH present in the slot, generating () a SR, —appending () the SR to the HARQ-ACK, —transmitting () the SR appended to the HARQ-ACK.

Aperiodic scheduling request

Method for a base station communicating with a plurality of User Entities, UE, according to a Time Division Duplex, TDD, access scheme via antennas, the base station being adapted for receiving Scheduling Requests, SRs, from the UEs, a SR indicating a request for scheduling an uplink transmission from a UE. The base station is communicating over a plurality of antennas associated with respective wide beams and narrow beams, a plurality of wide beams covering respective areas, whereby for each wide beam at least one narrow beam form a joint area with a wide beam. The TDD scheme involving at least a Physical Uplink Scheduling Control Channel, PUSCH, and including periodically appearing SR occasions, the base station being adapted for receiving and decoding a transmission from a UE and establishing whether a SR from at least one UE is received in a periodic occasion.

SR handling for analog beamforming

A method for adjusting a timing offset value (CO) for a receiver (Node-B) is provided, the receiver being adapted to controlling and receiving reverse radio Sink transmissions from a transmitter (UE) according to predetermined response time requirements. The method comprising the steps of&#x2014;estimating () at least one time budget map (TBM&#x2014;') according to which the available processing time in the receiver is given as a function of the possible timing off-set value (CO); &#x2014;determining () a given timing offset value (CO&#x2014;) for the radio fink (RL) of the transmitter in accordance with the estimated time budget map (TBM), such as to provide an optimized offset (CO) value for the base station; &#x2014;assigning () the determined timing offset value (CO) to the radio link.

A method and apparatus for operating a high speed uplink base station is provided. The base station is adapted to communicate with a first type of user entities and a second type of user entities. The first type of user entities communicate in a first transmission interval and the second type of user entities communicate in a second transmission interval.

TTI channel arrangement and UE to channel assignment

A method for a user entity (UE) transmitting data said data being receivable by at least a serving node (B) and a non serving node (B); the user entity (UE) being adapted for receiving a first signal (ABS GRNT E-AGCH) () from a serving node (B) granting the user entity permission to transmit at a given signalling rate; the user entity (UE) being adapted for receiving a second signal () from a non-serving node (B) instructing the user entity to limit its signalling rate (DOWN E-RGCH). The user entity (UE) is being adapted to transmit data packets and associating a third signal (HAPPY,) and the user entity (UE) is being adapted to transmit data packets and associating a fourth signal (NOT HAPPY,) with the data packet transmission indicating the user entity wishing to being granted permission to use a higher signalling rate than it is currently being permitted to use by the serving node (B). The user entity is being adapted for issuing a signalling rate limitation signal (UE RATE LMT,) to the serving node, indicating the user entity having limited its signalling rate signal below the signalling rate granted to it by the serving node B. There is moreover provided a method for a Node B, which as a non-serving Node B (B) is transmitting on the E-RGCH, a situation signal (E-RGCH CEASE) being indicative of a cease ceased&#x2033; of an interference situation.

Enhanced uplink user entity rate limitation signalling

There is provided a method in a first base (Node_B_S) station adapted to receive media access control layer packet data units (MAC-d; PDU) from a radio network controller (RNC) relating to at least a traffic flow relating to a given user entity (UE_Q) and forwarding (MAC-hs/MAC-ehs) such packet data units to said user entity. The transmission to the given user entity is adapted to be potentially handed over to at least a second radio base station (Node B_T), the method being characterized in the following steps:&#x2014;the first base station (Node_B_S) continuously updating () at least a data structure (UNACK_MACD_CNT) relating to media access control layer packet data units (MAC-d PDU's) of a priority queue of the user entity, which packet data units are recently transmitted from a protocol layer (RLC) in the radio network controller (RNC RLC) whereby at least some of said packet data units may not be received by a corresponding protocol layer (RLC) in the user entity (UE_Q) yet,&#x2014;the first base station, upon receiving a predetermined signal (UNACK_MACD_REQ ()) from the radio network controller requesting the data structure, transmitting () a current value of said data structure (UNACK_MACD_CNT) to the radio network controller (RNC). Also, a method for a radio network controller is provided and corresponding entities.

Apparatus and method for improved handover performance

A telecommunication system comprises a radio network controller (RNC), and a Node-B (NB) for enabling wireless communication with a user terminal (UE). The RNC establishes an enhanced dedicated transport channel (E-DCH) which enables uplink data traffic with a determined maximum data rate from the user terminal (UE) to the NB. The RNC further establishes a high speed DL shared channel (HS-DSCH) which enables downlink data traffic with a determined maximum data rate from the NB to the user terminal. The NB comprises a HSDPA scheduler (HS-S) scheduling the data rate for the DL data traffic via the HS-DSCH and a EUL scheduler (EUL-S) scheduling the maximum data rate for the UL data traffic via the E-DCH. The NB exchanges data rate information between the HS-S and the EUL-S. Furthermore, the NB monitors the quotient (Q) between DL data rate and the UL data rate. When Q fulfils determined traffic conditions the HSDPA scheduler (HS-S) and/or the EUL scheduler (EUL-S) changes the allocation and/or the priority handling of the UL and/or the DL resources.

Allocation and priority handling of uplink and downlink resources

Embodiments of the present invention include a method and system for operating a dual mode terminal that includes a wireless local area network interface and a cellular radio interface. According to an embodiment, the dual mode terminal camps on the cellular radio interface when idle. When a Page Request message is received over the cellular radio interface, the terminal determines whether wireless local area network coverage is possible from an access point providing wireless local area network cellular communication. If so, the terminal processes the incoming communication request over the wireless local area network towards another party, wherein then the communication is ended, the terminal goes back to camp on the cellular channel.

A method and apparatus is provided for performing normal reordering or timer based stall avoidance or window based stall avoidance, for instance for a 3GPP HSPDA compliant user entity; the method furthermore comprising the steps of deriving an accumulated quality measure pertaining to the packet data being communicated from the transmitter entity to the receiver entity; comparing the accumulated quality measure with a predetermined threshold value; if the accumulated quality measure meets predefined criteria, moving the window corresponding to the highest received value forward to a position corresponding to the received sequence number; and setting the next expected value in the receiver window forward to a position corresponding to a rear position of the window determined by the window size.

Arrangement and method for extended control plane signalling in a high speed packet data communication

The invention relates to a wireless telecommunication system for voice and data packet transmission. The system comprises a transmitting unit for transmitting voice and data packets to a receiving unit. The transmitting unit comprises a first discard timer set for a first time period and arranged to start when a first data packet is transmitted from the transmitting unit. The transmitting unit is arranged to suspend the first discard timer when a second power is lower than or equal to a selected second threshold level.

Timer handling in a transmitter in a telecommunication system for voice and data packet transmission

A Dual mode mobile terminal (MT) comprising a WLAN interface (WLAN_NIC) and a cellular radio interface (GSM_NIC) has been described wherein when receiving a Page Request message over the cellular radio interface (GSM_NIC), indicating an incoming voice call over the cellular radio interface, or upon receiving an indication from the user of the dual mode terminal to perform an outgoing voice call, performing a determination as to whether a WLAN coverage is possible from an AP providing WLAN telephony calls, and if so responding, by issuing a WLAN call message to a WLAN AP over the WLAN interface to an interworking node (IWFN). There is moreover provided an Inter-working node (IWFN) comprising a cellular control unit (CTRL_SIP), a cellular unit (GSM_U), a voice over IP unit (VO_IP) and a router (R), which upon receiving a WLAN call from a dual mode terminal via a WLAN AP, is establishing a connection against a serving mobile switching center (S_MSC/VLR), is performing a call initiation procedure, a assign traffic channel procedure and a call confirmation and call accepted procedure between the dual mode terminal (MT) and the serving switching mode center (S_MSC/VLR), is initiating duplex GSM/IP translation and is routing the cellular call between the AP and the serving mobile switching center (S_MSC).

A method and apparatus for a base station engaging in transmissions via at least a media access layer with a user entity are disclosed. The base station transmits data to the user entity over a high speed scheduling and packet data scheduling channels. The base station has a plurality of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) entities cooperating with a scheduler for transmitting frames from at least the base station to the user entity for a given HARQ process. Each HARQ entity receives either a not acknowledge or an acknowledge signal or detects a discontinuous transmission for a given HARQ process.
