A method performed by an Application Server (AS) node PCRM-AS for assisting a UE in restoring an association between an Internet protocol Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, node, and the UE via one or more first intermediate proxy nodes in a communications network is provided. When the AS node receives from the UE, a first registration relating to the association, monitor said association. The first registration registers the UE to an IMS network. The first registration comprises an identity identifying the UE and a Push Notification Service (PNS) node serving the UE. When any of the intermediate proxy nodes in the monitored association becomes unavailable, the AS node sends an instruction to the identified PNS node. The instruction instructs the PNS node to send a notification to the identified UE. The notification triggers the UE to restore the association between the IMS node and the UE via one or more available second intermediate proxy nodes.

Application server node, user equipment and methods in a communications network

Method and apparatus for establishing an additional session to an anonymous user

An application server (), a first user equipment, UE, (), a second UE () and corresponding methods for use in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem, IMS, and for streaming media content between the first UE and the second UE using the Rich Communications Services, RCS, standard. The first UE transmits media content to an application server () as an RCS file transfer. The application server receives the media content from the first UE as an RCS file transfer and stores the media content in a memory (). The first UE compiles a message comprising a media content identifier and transmits the compiled message to the second UE using an RCS text based communication. The second UE receives the RCS text based communication from the first UE and transmits a request for the media content to the application server. The application server receives the request, converts the stored media content into streaming data suitable for streaming to the second UE and streams the streaming data to the second UE as an RCS video share, such that the media content can be viewed at the second UE only while it is being streamed.

A data handling unit and a method therein for handling information regarding call events in a Multimedia Telephony Service, MMTel, network are provided for enabling call logging, wherein a SIP Message comprising call log information referring to a call event is generated for the call event and sent to a storage server. Presented are methods and apparatus for optimizing access to service capabilities information for clients associated with user in a communication system. Communications requesting service capabilities information is directed through one or more capabilities application servers for inspection before forwarding the requests to their destination user's client device. If the capabilities application server has previously stored the information then the reply is generated from information stored on the capabilities application server and no request is forwarded to the user's client device, optimizing the process by reducing network communications.

Capability discovery optimization

A method, Call Agent (CA), and circuit-switched terminal for setting up a multimedia session from the circuit-switched terminal toward a packet-switched terminal in a telecommunication network. An Instant Messaging (IM) server receives an IM message from the circuit-switched terminal and forwards the contents of the IM message to the CA. The CA generates or retrieves a unique call token that identifies the terminals, and sends the call token to the IM server, which forwards the token to the circuit-switched terminal. In response, the circuit-switched terminal initiates setup of a circuit-switched call to an identified Media Gateway Controller (MGC). The MGC then sets up a packet-switched session with the packet-switched terminal to complete the setup of the multimedia session.

Method and system for a communication session initialization in a telecommunication network

A service node in a telecommunication network is arranged to receive a Multi-Media video call setup for a terminal to be called. The called terminal is called by the service node according to either a video or a voice call setup, depending on a current allowed answer mode of the called terminal. Responding to the call setup will, depending on either answering or rejecting the call setup by the called terminal, and depending whether the call setup is for a voice or a video call, be handled by the service node according to a predetermined method. When a call setup is answered by the called terminal, the service node further supports a method of toggling between a video call and a voice call at the called terminal.
