Techniques are provided for implementing multi-track audio analysis. In some instances, a plurality of audio tracks are received and combined into a single audio file. A collection of audio file characteristics are extracted from the single audio file. In some examples, the collection of audio file characteristics are associated with of the plurality of audio tracks and the single audio file. Audio characteristic edits are received for revising the collection of audio file characteristics. Metadata associated with each of the plurality of audio tracks and for the single audio file are updated based at least in part on the audio characteristic edits.

Techniques for analyzing multi-track audio files

A program product, a graphical user interface, a computer system including such a graphical user interface and method for replacing a first version of an audio and/or video section having a first length by selecting a second version of an audio and/or video section having a second length are described. Such a method comprises selecting the first version having the first length, displaying a first indication showing that the first version is selected, opening a menu associated with the first version offering at least the second version as an alternative to replace the first version, selecting the second version in the menu to replace the first version and displaying a second indication showing that the second version is selected. The second indication replaces the first indication. Some implementations may facilitate replacing one section or piece of audio or video data by another.

Arranging audio or video sections

A method to process digital audio data displays the digital audio data in one or more tracks along a time line in a graphical interface of a computer system and defines arrange regions within the time line of the digital audio data as objects for manipulation. Tracks within a selected arrange region are processed as an entity in accordance with commands received through the graphical user interface.

Method and system to process digital audio data

A method including receiving a first set of performance data corresponding to a first plurality of MIDI-based notes in a first rhythmic order. The first plurality of MIDI-based notes may form a first arpeggio, with each of the first plurality of notes having a corresponding first performance data. The method further includes receiving input data indicating a change to the first performance data corresponding to a note in the first plurality of notes, changing the first performance data for the corresponding note using the input data, receiving a second set of performance data corresponding to a second plurality of MIDI-based notes, and applying the changed first performance data to the second performance data. Applying the first changed performance data includes editing the second set of performance data in real-time by replacing the second performance data with the changed first performance data.

Grid-editing of a live-played arpeggio

An example graphical programming interface system includes a processor. A grid matrix defined by a plurality of coordinate axes, having selectable matrix positions is displayed on a display device. Multiple movable object icons, each representing an object having a predefined output sound are also displayed on the display device. In one aspect, a single object data file is associated with each matrix position on said grid matrix. In this aspect, once a user places an object icon on a matrix position, the processor causes the predefined output sound associated with the object icon in accordance with the object data file associated with the matrix position at which the object icon is placed, and outputs the processed sound to an output device. This allows a user to program musical sequences by placing one or more object icons each on the selectable matrix positions.

Graphical user interface for music sequence programming

A user can make selections of one or more items, defined as a context, in a graphical user interface on a computer running software. The computer sends data to a connected wireless device, and the data is representative of the context. The wireless touch screen device displays one or more commands corresponding to the received context data and the commands can control the program on the computer. The wireless touch screen device then receives a user input on the wireless touch screen device to execute one of the one or more commands. The wireless touch screen device then sends the user command to the computer, wherein the computer executes the command and controls the program according to the user command. For example, this can allow remote control of a DAW, video-editing software, photo-editing software, and word processing software by a coupled wireless touch screen device.

Context sensitive remote device

The invention relates to systems, methods, and apparatus for assessing a musical performance of a chord, a chord series, or a chord progression. The performance can include a user's performance of a musical instrument. MIDI or audio notes are input and compared to the notes of music track. An indication can be provided to assess the performance. The assessment can be on the basis of timing and/or pitch errors. A new chord can be displayed to a user based on the assessment of the user's performance of the previous chord.

The invention relates to systems, methods, and apparatus for assessing a musical performance. The musical performance can include a user's performance of a musical instrument. MIDI or audio notes are input and compared to the notes of a music track. An indication is provided to assess the musical performance. A media application for providing outputs (e.g., audio outputs) in response to inputs received from an input device is provided. The media application may connect input mechanisms of an input device with parameters of channel strips (e.g., which may define output sounds) using an intermediate screen object. The media application may first assign an input mechanism to a screen object, and separately map a screen object to a channel strip parameter. The media application may map a screen object to several channel strips simultaneously such that, based on the value of the screen object, the volume of each of the several channel strips changes. The media application may provide a graphical representation of available channel strips using layers. As the media application accesses a channel strip, the appearance of the portion of the layer associated with the channel strip may change. The media application may also allow the patches, which may include several channel strips, to survive after a new patch is selected instead.

Visual responses to a physical input in a media application

A digital audio processor is described, wherein a graphical user interface is presented on the monitor of the processor to display user actionable control elements in a scene of a real world environment for creating and processing music; the graphical user interface is adapted to activate pre-set functions for generating and processing digital audio data in the digital audio processor for each of the user actionable control elements.

A graphical element resembling an instrument amplifier having audio control parameters is displayed through a graphical user interface (GUI). An additional graphical element resembling one or more instrument effects pedals is displayed. Each instrument effects pedal has separate audio control parameters. An audio input is received from an instrument. The audio input is processed according to the audio control parameters associated with the one or more instrument effects pedals and the instrument amplifier. The audio resulting from the processing is provided as an output.

Audio processing interface

A method and apparatus are provided for representing, storing, and rendering audio data. An audio file enables users to store and exchange sampled audio waveform data along with additional data used to generate or synthesize an audio output closely approximating the original waveform data. The audio file used to generate a piece of music may include note events, synthesis parameters, instruments and track information, and other information for shaping music notes, as well as playback characteristics for emulating a desired ambiance. A rendering apparatus may implement a process for selecting the representation of audio data most likely to provide the best fidelity for the given playback circumstances. The combined audio format also provides a greater degree of compatibility for audio players with different playback capabilities.
