Robotic system and methods for preparing a bone of a joint to receive an implant. Virtual object(s) are used to define a volume of material to be removed from the bone for receipt of the implant. A robotic manipulator controls a cutting tool based on the virtual object(s) to form a first cavity and a second cavity in the bone. The second cavity is formed beneath the first cavity and is rotated relative to the first cavity to define an undercut in the bone. The first and second cavities receive a body and a locking member of the implant in an unlocked position. The locking member is rotated within the second cavity to a locked position whereby the undercut engages the locking member to limit withdrawal of the implant from the bone.

Robotic system for shoulder arthroplasty using stemless implant components

A stemless prosthetic shoulder joint may include a prosthetic humeral head and a stemless base. The stemless base may include a collar and an anchor extending from the collar intended to anchor the base into the proximal humerus. The anchor may include various features to enhance the fixation of the base, including hooks, threads, and/or expandable members that may be transitioned from a contracted insertion condition to an expanded implanted condition once the base is positioned in the bone. The anchor and/or collar may also include additional features to enhance fixation, such as geometries and surface features to enhance fixation to bone. The anchor may include a plurality of chisel slots to facilitate removal of bone during a revision surgery.

A bone fixation plate comprises a main body formed of a first material and a support member formed of a second, different material and attached to the main body. The main body defines a first set of openings and the support member defines a second set of openings aligned with the first set of openings. For each opening of the first set of openings, a main body circumferential surface is disposed adjacent and continuous with a support member circumferential surface of the second set of openings to define an opening circumferential surface that bounds an opening of the first set of openings and an opening of the second set of openings.

Robotic systems and methods for robotic arthroplasty. The robotic system includes a machining station and a guidance station. The guidance station tracks movement of various objects in the operating room, such as a surgical tool, a humerus of a patient, and a scapula of the patient. The guidance station tracks these objects for purposes of controlling movement of the surgical tool relative to virtual cutting boundaries or other virtual objects associated with the humerus and scapula to facilitate preparation of bone to receive a shoulder implant system. In some versions, planning for placement of a stemless implant component is based on a future location of a stemmed shoulder implant to be placed in the humerus during a revision surgery.

A bone plate has bone facing side, a front side being arranged substantially opposite to and facing away from the bone facing side, and at least a first and a second elongated guiding channel. The first and second guiding channels are configured to receive a flexible elongated member such as, for example, a cerclage wire, and the first and second guiding channel are each further configured to guide the elongated member along a respective first and second guiding channel axis (A, B) from a first to a second lateral region of the bone plate. The disclosure relates to a bone plate systems and method. A system comprises a bone plate having a bone facing side, a front side being arranged substantially opposite to and facing away from the bone facing side, and at least one insert receiving portion, the system further comprising at least one insert defining a contacting region for contacting an adjacent bone surface and being releasably receivable in said insert receiving portion, wherein the insert is insertable into the insert receiving portion from the bone facing side.

A bone plate has a shaft portion having first and second side surfaces spaced from a centerline of the shaft. A plurality of holes extend from an upwardly facing surface of the shaft to a bone contacting surface. A first hole having a center located closer to the first side of the shaft than the centerline, and a second hole located closer to the second side of the shaft than the centerline. The upwardly facing surface of the shaft having a first tapered area extending from adjacent the first circular hole downwardly towards the second side of the shaft and the upwardly facing surface of the shaft having a second chamfered area extending downwardly from adjacent the second circular hole to the first side of the shaft. The tapered areas having wider and narrower portions with the center of each circular hole located adjacent the wider portion of the tapered area.

A system for bending a surgical device is disclosed in which the system may include a bending apparatus having a housing with a series of posts received therein. In some embodiments, one of the series of posts may be selectively movable within an elongate slot in the housing, while another of the series of posts may be circumferentially movable. Movement of the circumferentially movable post may serve to bend a surgical device about at least one of the other remaining posts. A tool may also be provided with the system for interacting with a lever and causing the circumferentially movable post to move circumferentially. An alternate apparatus for bending a surgical device is also disclosed, as are methods of bending a surgical device using the aforementioned system.

Instrument for use in bending surgical devices

A protractor for use with an external fixation frame is provided. The protractor may include a face having angle designations thereon and a set of opposed and extending flanges projecting from said face. The flanges may connect to a portion of an external fixation frame, such as a ring (or other component) of the frame. The face may also include a post member to which a rotatable dial is mounted. An elongate member may be pivotally connected to a portion of the post member and may include a clamp. The clamp may be used to connect to an alternate portion of an external fixation frame, such as a strut of the frame. Thus, the protractor may be connected to two points on an external fixation frame so as to measure the angle between such points. Related methods of using the aforementioned protractor are also disclosed.
