The present disclosure provides a dental implant configured to be inserted in a hole in jaw bone and to be at least partially situated in the bone tissue when implanted and includes: a coronal region, an apical region, a longitudinal axis extending from the coronal region of the dental implant to the apical region of the dental implant; an implant surface configured to form an interface between an implant material and the oral environment/surrounding tissue and a surface layer formed on at least part of the implant surface, the surface layer including crystalline titanium oxide in the anatase phase and wherein the surface area roughness Sa and the pore size of the implant surface on which said surface layer is formed increase from the coronal region toward the apical region of the dental implant along the longitudinal axis.

Dental implant

The present invention discloses a dental implant () for preserving soft tissue and promoting bone growth, including an elongated implant body having a coronal end portion () and an apical end portion (); an external thread (); a flute arrangement () having at least one helical flute having a depth; in which the apical end portion forms a blunt tip (), and in which the helical flute spirals in opposite direction to the external thread, and the flute exits on the face of the blunt tip.

It is disclosed a dental implant () for promoting hone growth. The dental implant includes an elongated implant body having a coronal end portion () and an apical end portion (), at least one external thread () and a flute arrangement having a depth. The flute arrangement has at least two helical flutes () that spiral in the general direction of said at least one external thread (). The flutes () propagate with a greater lead than said at least one thread (). The flute arrangement is capable of scraping off and transferring bone debris in the coronal direction of the implant during insertion. It is also disclosed a method of using the dental implant and an implant system according to the present invention.

The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing bone loss rate, particularly in the field of bone anchored implants. The present patent provides with a method that comprises the steps of: a) quantifying the expression level of one or more markers or ratio thereof related to the activity of osteoclasts and/or osteoblasts in an ex vivo sample; and b) determining the bone loss rate as a function of ongoing loss of marginal bone level by interpolating the value obtained in step a) in one or more calibration curves. The invention also relates to a kit for performing said method.

Method for measuring bone loss rate

An implant () and/or a unit (), e.g. spacer sleeve, belonging to said implant is/are intended to extend through a hole (') formed in a jaw bone () and through soft tissue () belonging to the jaw bone and to comprise one or more outer layers of principally titanium dioxide. Each layer consists of crystalline titanium dioxide which largely or completely assumes the anatase phase. The invention also relates to a method for production of such a dental implant () and/or of a unit () belonging to it, which has one or more outer layers of titanium dioxide. The method is an anodic oxidation method in which the part or parts bearing the outer layer(s) is/are applied to electrolyte under voltage, e.g. comprising sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, and the voltage (U) and the dwell time of the part or parts in the electrolyte are chosen such that titanium dioxide, largely or completely assuming the crystalline anatase phase, is formed. Excellent bone guidance and soft tissue integration can be achieved in this way.

Arrangement with an implant and/or a unit belonging to said implant, and method for production of the implant and/or unit

An arrangement and an implant are provided for increasing the stress resistance of the implant arranged in an upper jaw bone. The implant has access via parts to the sinus cavity. At these parts, the implant is arranged with a convex or rounded front surface which, upon access, lifts the sinus mucous membrane, without piercing the latter, and thus forms a closed space between the parts and the underside of the mucous membrane. The implant is provided, at least at these parts, with growth-stimulating substance or substances which interact with cell-containing body fluid which penetrates or has penetrated into the space, so that new bone is formed around these parts of the implant.

Arrangement for increasing the stress resistance of implants and one such implant

In a method and system for producing an implant, the latter is designed with one or more surfaces extending in the longitudinal direction of the implant. Two or three production stages can be used. In one stage, either a topography with a long wave pattern is produced by means of cutting work, or laser bombardment or further cutting work is used to produce a topography with an intermediate-length wave pattern. In addition, an oxidation process or shot-peening or etching is used to produce an outer layer. When using two of said production stages, said cutting work or said laser bombardment or further cutting work is followed by the oxidation process or the shot-peening or etching method. When using all three production stages, cutting work is followed by laser bombardment, or further cutting work, which in turn is followed for example by the oxidation process. The invention also relates to an implant which is produced using the method and is identified, ordered and produced using the system. The invention permits effective treatment of different implant situations.

Implant, and method and system for producing such an implant

An implant and a method of producing the implant are provided. The implant can have at least one outer surface extending in its longitudinal direction. The implant can comprise an underlying wave pattern, an intermediate wave pattern, and a microscopic roughening layer. The underlying wave pattern can have waves that extend substantially in the longitudinal direction. Further, the intermediate wave pattern can be formed on the waves of the underlying wave pattern. Additionally, the microscopic roughening layer can be formed on top of the underlying wave pattern.

An arrangement and an implant are provided for increasing the stress resistance of the implant arranged in an upper jaw bone. The implant has access via parts to the sinus cavity. A surface structure is produced on an outer surface of an implant or a fixture and forms a base structure in a range of implants related to different types and qualities of jaw bone. During production of the surface, parts of a turning tool are placed against the implant or against a blank which is intended to form the implant. The parts and/or the implant are assigned controls which give rise to mutual displacements between the parts and the implant so that the parts follow a substantially spiral trajectory along the outer surface. By means of said controls, a long wave pattern is formed with successive peaks and with through lying between these. In this connection, a through can be arranged adjacent to the outer parts of an existing thread. The controls are chosen so as to produce through depths in the range of 25 to 250 &#x3bc;m, preferably 50 to 200 &#x3bc;m. The invention also relates to an implant which has the same character as the implant produced by the method.

Method for producing a surface structure on an implant, and such an implant

An implant () has one or more surfaces () with a basic or starting surface structure () derived from mechanical working. A topographic modification of the surface structures is arranged on said surface structure or surface structures. The topographic modification can be formed, for example, by means of shot-peening, etching, plasma spraying, chemical action, etc. The topographically modified surface structures support bone-growth-stimulating agent. In a method for producing the implant, three subsidiary methods are used for carrying out the mechanical working, the topographical modification, and the application of the bone-growth-stimulating agent. An important niche in the demand which exists in the field of implants is thus covered in an advantageous manner.

Implant for example dental implant

An implant () is provided with attachment and hole-insert parts () with surfaces which have different degrees of finishing and/or degrees of roughness and/or porosities (). Arranged on the surfaces there is at least one dozen (A-B) in which the degree of finishing and/or the degree of roughness and/or the porosity is continuously changed. The changes in porosity in said zones can mirror continuous or discontinuous changes in the bone in question, for example the jaw bone or tooth bone. The continuously changed zones can be obtained with the aid of electrolyte () and, connected to the latter, an anode and cathode arrangement (). When establishing the porosity, it is possible to mask different portions of the respective implant and to control the temperature of the implant.

Implant provided with attachment and hole-insert parts, and a method for producing such an implant

An implant that includes titanium and has one or more surfaces which can be applied in or on a bone growth area. One or more of the surfaces are arranged with a depot for bone-growth-initiating or bone-growth-stimulating substance, in which the depot is formed by a pore arrangement in a relatively thick oxide layer on the titanium. The substance is acted on, for a considerable period of time, by one or more release functions for the substance which permit a controlled or optimized release of substance to the surrounding tissue or bone growth area.

Implant, method for producing the implant, and use of the implant

The stability of an implant () which is fitted in a jaw bone hole created by tooth root extraction is increased using osteoinductive material. Bone formation in the space between the implant and the bone wall is also stimulated. In an initial stage, the implant is anchored or fitted in the hole. With its outer parts () the implant extends into a part () of the hole which has a cross-sectional area exceeding the crossectional area of the outer parts () of the implant. The soft tissue of the jaw bone, with possible periosteum, covers the implant and the space to form a closed space (). The bioactive material consists of growth-stimulating substances (GSS) arranged on the implant. In a stage of incorporation, GSS passes outward into body fluid which has penetrated into the closed space and interacts with cells present in the fluid so that new bone is formed around the outer pats () of the implant. The invention also relates to a use and to an implant. The invention also simplifies the handling of implants.
