The invention relates to use of nano-fibrillar cellulose as an gas-entrainment stabilizer, which when used in cementitious materials, provides improved gas pore structure quality and/or stability and/or robustness with regard to water content variation. The invention further relates to a method for stabilizing gasentrainment of cementitious materials and to a method for providing cementitious material with improved air pore structure quality and/or stability and/or robustness with regard to water content variation.

Method for fabricating fiber and film products and composites includes: introducing an aqueous gel of nanofibrillar cellulose into a volume of organic extraction agent miscible with water so that the aqueous gel is kept as a separate phase and forms one or several discrete physical entities containing the nanofibrillar cellulose within the phase; changing water with the organic extraction agent in said one or several discrete physical entities of nanofibrillar cellulose; and drying the nanofibrillar cellulose by removing the organic extraction agent from the one or several discrete physical entities of nanofibrillar cellulose. In the method the aqueous gel of nanofibrillar cellulose is introduced into the volume of organic extraction agent in the form of one or several elongated elements which form a fiber-like or ribbon-like or film-like product after drying.

Method for fabricating fiber products and composites

The invention relates to a method for processing an aqueous gel of nanofibrillar cellulose by removing water from the aqueous gel by means of an organic solvent miscible with water. In the method: aqueous gel is introduced into a volume of organic solvent miscible with water in a controlled manner so that the aqueous gel is kept as a separate phase and forms discrete physical entities containing the nanofibrillar cellulose within the phase; water is changed with the organic solvent in said discrete physical entities of nanofibrillar cellulose; and the physical entities are separated from the volume of organic solvent.

An agent for oilfield applications capable of being dispersed in water is nanofibrillar cellulose. The nanofibrillar cellulose mixed in water gives shear-thinning behavior to the composition, which is pumped to a subterranean oil-containing formation to aid in oil recovery.

The present invention provides a method for producing modified nanofibrillated cellulose characterized by bringing cellulosic material into a fiber suspension, adsorbing a cellulose derivative or polysaccharide or polysaccharide derivative onto fibers in said fiber suspension under special conditions and subjecting the obtained fiber suspension derivative to mechanical disintegration. A modified nanofibrillated cellulose obtainable by a method of the present invention is provided. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of said modified nanofibrillated cellulose.
