A method and a cloud management node for enabling usage of a virtual machine in a distributed cloud of resources for processing and storing of data. When receiving a VM image from a client with a set of files of an operating system for running the virtual machine, the cloud management node distributes the VM image to a plurality of local data centers forming the distributed cloud. In return, the cloud management node receives local identifications of the VM image from the local data centers, and creates a mapping between the received local identifications and a global identification of the VM image. The global identification is then returned to the client, thereby enabling the client to change the VM image in the local data centers by referring to the global identification in communication with the cloud management node.

Method and cloud management node for enabling a virtual machine

Methods and nodes () in a data distribution network, for distributing content to multiple consuming nodes (C, C, C, . . . ). A first node () detects () multiple data flows () of a first content from the first node to a second node () in the distribution network, when the first node operates as delivering node of the first content for the consuming nodes. The first node then instructs () the second node to operate as delivering node of the first content for the consuming nodes and redirects () the consuming nodes to use the second node as delivering node of the first content. The first node further reduces () the multiple data flows to a common data flow of the first content to the second node. Thereby, efficiency can be improved in the data distribution network by reducing the number of data flows between the first and second nodes.

A unit, computer readable medium and method for providing dynamic processing elements allocation in a network for a task of a user based on a request of the user. The method includes receiving at the unit of the network the request that includes at least a required condition or a preference related to the task, determining a first processing elements allocation in the network for executing the task such that the first processing elements allocation complies with the request, monitoring whether a trigger is received and indicates that at least a characteristic of the request is violated by the first processing elements allocation, and determining, in response to the received trigger, a second processing elements allocation in the network for executing the task such that the second processing elements allocation complies with the request.

The present invention relates to a method for retransmission of lost data, a receiving device operating according to the invented method and a retransmission server. In the absence of a unique identifier per data packet or data frame, there is obviously a problem to directly identify a specific data packet, data block or data frame in the stream and retransmission can't take place with current technologies. The present application discloses systems and methods for adapting the rate at which the packets are transmitted. In one embodiment, the method includes: (a) receiving a packet; (b) determining whether the packet is high priority packet or a low priority packet; and (c) determining whether a transmission rate value, which defines the maximum rate or maximum average rate at which the node should transmit the low priority packets, should be adjusted, wherein the determination is based, at least in part, on whether at least some number of high priority packets and/or bits was received since a point in time; and (d) adjusting the transmission rate value if it is determined in step (c) that the transmission rate value should be adjusted.

Optimized redirection for network architectures

A network node is arranged to provide an end user of a network terminal in a network with an access link to an external network including at least one external network interface, a control unit, and at least one internal network interface, the network node being arranged to be connected between the network and the external network. A method of measuring network performance is disclosed. A payload packet is transmitted from a sending node to a receiving node via a communication network. A reference packet is transmitted to the receiving node in connection with sending of the payload packet. Receive information related to the payload packet and to the reference packet is generated, at the receiving node. Send information related to the payload packet and to the reference packet is received, by the receiving node. Network performance is estimated by utilizing the send and receive information.

The invention relates to a network node arranged to provide an end user of a network terminal in a local network with an access link to an external network, said network node is arranged to be connected between said local network and said external network. Configuration of a network node using captive mode

A probing method, arrangement, and system for estimating a condition, such as available bandwidth, of a data path in a communication network including multiple nodes are described. A probe-packet sender node transmits probe packets with a sent inter-packet separation and a time-to-live towards an intermediate node. Control message packets are generated by the intermediate node when the time-to-live expires. The probe-packet sender node receives the control message packets and calculates a received inter-packet separation. An estimate of the data path condition can be generated based on the sent inter-packet separation and the received inter-packet separation.

Method, arrangement and system for monitoring a data path in a communication network

Link information is obtained about new or changes links in a communications system having a plurality of domains. The link information concerning a link between a first and a second domain comprises at least four pieces of information, domain identity of the first domain, domain identity of the second domain, link end identifier for a first end of the link, and link end identifier for a second end of the link. The link information is cascaded through the communications system by providing the link information stepwise from one domain to an adjacent domain. This is achieved by spreading the obtained link information to adjacent domains and by distributing link information received from adjacent domains to further adjacent domains. Preferably, the link information is compiled and access to the compiled link information is provided for creation of a system link map.
