An exhaust gas turbocharger with an integrated catalyst substrate block and a hybrid vehicle having such a turbocharger are described. The exhaust gas turbocharger has a turbine housing, a turbine wheel and upstream ahead of the turbine wheel a hollow body-shaped catalyst substrate block, which is integrated in the exhaust gas ring duct of the turbine housing of the exhaust gas turbocharger. As a result of the upstream disposal of the turbine wheel and the integration in the exhaust gas ring duct of the turbine housing, particularly good emission values of an associated internal combustion engine can be achieved with a compact construction mode.

A turbocharger device includes an annular spring element for axially clamping a guide device of a variable turbine geometry against a turbine housing. The annular spring element rests radially outwardly on the bearing housing and radially inwardly on a component of the guide device. The spring element has an annular radial outer flange in contact with the bearing housing, and a plurality of tabs which extend from the outer flange radially inwardly in the direction of the guide device and come into contact with a component thereof. An exhaust-gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine includes an intake duct for air, an exhaust-gas duct, a turbine arranged in the exhaust-gas duct, and a compressor impeller arranged in the intake duct, which turbine and compressor impeller are both arranged on a common shaft, wherein the exhaust-gas duct has a spiral housing which coaxially surrounds the turbine, and wherein, between the spiral housing and the turbine, a ring-shaped gap is provided through which the exhaust-gas flow flows circumferentially to the turbine, and wherein, in the ring-shaped gap, guide vanes are arranged which are rotatable about an adjustment axis by an adjustment mechanism for controlling the flow resistance. To compensate thermal expansions and shrinkages of the guide vanes under different operating conditions, the adjustment mechanism additionally has a displacement mechanism for displacing the guide vanes in the ring-shaped gap. The displacement mechanism is directly coupled to the adjustment mechanism.

Exhaust-gas turbocharger with adjustable turbine geometry

A supercharging device is disclosed for an internal combustion engine having an exhaust-gas turbocharger and a fresh-air compressor. The supercharging device includes a recuperation charger which has a compressor-turbine with a high-pressure side and a low-pressure side and which has an electromechanical motor-generator coupled to the compressor-turbine. The compressor-turbine is operable at least firstly when the supercharging device is configured in a booster operating mode in a manner driven by the motor-generator as a compressor for increasing the pressure of charge-air mass flow to the intake tract of the engine, and secondly when the supercharging device is configured in a recuperation operating mode in a manner driven by the charge-air mass flow as a turbine for energy recovery by the motor-generator.

Supercharging device for an internal combustion engine, and operating method for the supercharging device

A supercharger device for an internal combustion engine, including an exhaust gas turbocharger and a recuperation charger having a compressor turbine and an electromechanical motor-generator coupled thereto. The compressor turbine is connectable on the low-pressure side thereof to a charge air supply line and on the high-pressure side of the compressor turbine to both the charge air supply line and an exhaust gas tract of the engine. The recuperation charger is able to be switched at least between a booster operative mode and a recuperation operative mode. The recuperation charger may be operated as a compressor driven by the motor-generator for increasing pressure in the charge air supply line in the booster operative mode, or driven by at least a portion of a charge air mass flow, the exhaust gas mass flow, or both, and operated as a turbine so as to recover energy by the motor-generator.

Supercharger device for an internal combustion engine, and a method for operating said supercharger device

A method for mounting a rolling bearing arrangement onto a rotor and into the bearing housing of a turbocharger is provided. The method includes inserting a component, which is deformable under the exertion of pressure, into the intermediate space between two rolling bearings of the rotor assembly. The rotor assembly includes a rotor shaft, inner bearing rings which are fastened to the rotor shaft or integrated into the rotor shaft and which have a spacing to one another, rolling elements which are inserted into the inner bearing rings, and outer bearing rings which likewise have a spacing to one another. The method also includes deforming, by exertion of pressure, the component that has been inserted into the intermediate space between the two rolling bearings, to set a desired axial preload between the two rolling bearings.

In a fluid energy machine, such as an exhaust gas turbocharger of an internal combustion engine of an automobile, with a casing accommodating a rotor wheel that is rotatable about a first axis of rotation extending in the axial direction of the casing, an inlet flow passage which extends generally in a flow direction at an angle relative to the axial and the radial directions to the housing, the flow passage is formed by spaced insertion elements with spherical sections that have a common center of curvature disposed on the first axis of rotation and guide vanes are supported between the spaced spherical wall sections of the insertion elements so as to be rotatable about a second axis of rotation which extends through the common center of curvature, and have opposite axial end walls also curved spherically with a center of curvature coinciding with the center of curvature of the insertion elements thereby to be pivotable between the two spaced spherical wall sections of the insertion elements with minimal clearance.

For fixing a first distance (A) between the support ring and the contour sleeve, at least one spacer element with a longitudinal axis, an outer surface and a cross-sectional area is provided so as to have a streamlined shape forming in the exhaust gas flow only a relatively narrow wake line and the spacer element is so arranged that the wake line formed thereby extends essentially through a flow space between two adjacent guide vanes without disturbing the exhaust gas flow around these guide vanes.
