Non-returnable packages for liquid contents, e.g. milk, are made frequently from a flexible packing laminate, and are provided with an opening arrangement in the form of a tear-off strip which covers a pouring opening in the packing container wall. So as to avoid spatter and spillage at the actual moment of opening, an opening arrangement for packing containers is realized comprising a pouring opening (8) which has a projection (8') of small area directed against the direction of tearing of the tearing strip (6). This part of the pouring opening (8) formed as a projection (8') thus will be opened first, and air will flow into the packing container, and the liquid level will drop so that the continued opening can be performed without any risk of spillage. By varying the sealing strength between the tearing strip and the packing laminate an automatic delay of the removal of the tearing strip after the opening of the projecting part can be achieved, which further improves the functioning of the opening arrangement.

Opening arrangement for packing containers

A packing container is provided with an opening arrangement which comprises a hole (9) included in the container wall (7) and weakened areas designed and located so that the wall section between the weakened areas forms a tongue (10) projecting into the hole (9). The hole is closed by a cover strip (11) fitted over the hole and sealed to the container wall.

A packing container of the non-returnable type is frequently manufactured from laminated material which comprises a central carrier layer of paper with thermoplastic layers applied to both sides. As an opening arrangement, a pre-punched pouring opening is used which is covered on the one hand by a tear-off cover strip located outside the packing container and, on the other hand, by an inner protective strip. A method for sealing an emptying opening in accordance with the invention ensures that a part of the inner protective strip corresponding to the shape and size of the pouring opening accompanies the cover strip since the strips are heat-sealed to each other at the same time as they are pressed against each other by means of pressure fluid. An arrangement for carrying out the method comprises a heating device with a heatable zone and an outlet for pressure fluid.

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the processing of a material web to convert the same to individual packing containers filled with contents. Flexible packing containers for milk or other beverages are manufactured from tubular material which is filled with contents, formed and divided to packing containers with the help of alternately working forming and sealing jaws which are given a reciprocating movement in the longitudinal direction of the tube and in the transverse direction of the tube. In accordance with the invention the jaws are guided and driven by guiding and driving rods which run parallel with the material tube and to which different reciprocating movements are imparted.

Method and an apparatus for the processing of a material web

An arrangement for the separation of particles from a gas stream is provided with a helical guiding element and a collar having drop-forming elements. Consequently, on the one hand a strongly rotating movement is imparted to the air at a relatively low flow resistance, on the other hand it is processed by the drop-forming elements of the collar, which results in high capacity as well as effective separation.

The presterilization of packaging machines for the manufacture of aseptic packing containers can be carried out with the help of sterile air and liquid sterilizing agent, which are blended so that a gas saturated with sterilizing agent of a suitable temperature and dew point is obtained. In order to achieve a rapid and effective volatilization of the liquid a circulating movement is imparted to the hot sterile air as the sterile liquid is introduced into the center of the circulating movement. An apparatus using this method comprises a chamber with a helical guide rail and a spray nozzle for the sterilizing liquid.
