The present disclosure relates generally to controlled extension medical stents, and more particularly to controlled extension devices positioned in the body to stent the ureter and facilitate drainage from the kidney to the bladder.

Controlled extension stent

A stent delivery system which includes a stent delivery catheter, the stent delivery catheter having a stent mounting region, the stent mounting region having an inflatable portion. A stent is disposed about the stent mounting region, the stent having an unexpanded position and an expanded position. At least one stent retaining sleeve is also included having first and second ends, the first end being attached to the stent delivery catheter, the at least one stent retaining sleeve disposed about at least a portion of the stent in the unexpanded position, the stent retaining sleeve being constructed and arranged to retract toward the attached first end when the stent is expanded.

Stent body sock

According to an aspect of the present invention, a medical device is provided which comprises a metallic substrate and polymeric region disposed over and in contact with the metallic substrate. The polymeric region comprises (a) a block copolymer that comprises (i) a hard polymer block that comprises a high Tg monomer and (ii) a soft polymer block that comprises a low Tg monomer, (b) an adhesion promoting copolymer that comprises (i) a first monomer that covalently or non-covalently bonds with the metallic substrate and (ii) a second monomer that is compatible with the low Tg monomer and/or the high Tg monomer and (c) a therapeutic agent. The polymeric region may further comprise an optional polymer that is used to tailor the release rate of the therapeutic agent.

Medical devices having coating with improved adhesion

According to an aspect of the present invention, implantable or insertable medical devices are provided, which contain one or more polymeric regions. These polymeric regions, in turn, contain one or more polymers, at least one of which is a copolymer that includes a styrene monomer and an isobutylene monomer. Moreover, the styrene monomer content of the copolymer typically ranges from 25 to 50 mol %.

The present invention provides a catheter balloon having an advantageous cone design. In particular, the catheter balloon has at least one cone section with a volume in mmsuch that, when the ratio of one cone volume to the transverse cross-sectional area in mmof the inflated median section is at least about 2.1 mm. In certain applications, the advantageous cone design can assist in the preferential expansion of the cone sections prior to any significant expansion of the median section. The balloon can thus advantageously be utilized as a component of a balloon catheter or prosthesis delivery system, also provided via the present invention. When so utilized, the inventive balloon can assist in reducing any shifting of the balloon and/or prosthesis during inflation or delivery, respectively. Methods of utilizing the balloon catheters in dilation procedures, as well as the prosthesis delivery systems to deliver prosthesis, are also provided.

Catheter balloon with advantageous cone design

A stent delivery system comprising a catheter. The catheter having a catheter shaft, and a balloon mounted thereto. A stent is disposed about at least a portion of the balloon. The stent having an unexpanded state and an expanded state. The stent being retained on the balloon in the unexpanded state by at least one sleeve. The at least one sleeve having a first portion engaged to the catheter and a second portion at least partially overlaying an end of the stent when the stent is in the unexpanded state. At least one membrane is disposed about a portion of the stent. The at least one membrane constructed and arranged to prevent portions of the stent thereunder from flaring out during advancement of the catheter.

Stent delivery system with membrane

A balloon catheter comprises a balloon, an inner shaft, an outer shaft and a transition shaft. The transition shaft has a proximal portion and a distal portion joined by a tapered portion. The proximal portion has a diameter greater than the distal portion. The proximal portion has a first end portion engaged to at least a portion of the outer shaft at a first engagement site. At least a portion of the proximal waist is engaged to the proximal portion of the transition shaft at a second engagement site. At least a portion of the end region of the inner shaft is engaged to the distal portion of the transition shaft at a third engagement site. The distal portion extends through the balloon wherein at least a portion of the distal waist of the balloon is engaged to the distal portion of the transition shaft at a forth engagement site.

Catheter support

A medical device comprising a support member adjacent to a first member and a second member, the first and second members may be laser welded to one another by directing radiation absorbable by the first and second members at the first and second members. The support member is provided adjacent to the first member and is constructed and arranged to substantially reflect or substantially transmit radiation at one or more frequencies absorbable by at least one of the first member and the second member.

Lumen support for welding

This invention relates to catheters used for delivering medical devices. The catheter incorporates sleeves which aid in containing the medical device on the catheter, wherein the sleeves have portions comprising high modulus material to aid in the function of the sleeves.

Stent delivery system

A dilatation balloon comprising an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface having a lubricious material disposed thereon to reduce friction or prevent adherence of adjacent layers, and thus reduce the pressure required for inflation.

Lubricated catheter balloon

Improved stent securement in a balloon catheter including balloon modification. The improvement comprises a circumferential fold in at least one of the distal cone portion and proximal cone portion over a portion of the body portion. The fold includes first and second layers of balloon material which are touching each other in a plurality of locations. The fold encompasses a circumferential end portion of the stent for securing it in place until dilation of the balloon.

Stent securement by balloon modification

A stent-carrying balloon catheter in which a balloon is positioned within a stent for expanding the stent upon dilation of the balloon. The balloon includes a circumferential fold over a portion of the balloon itself, the fold encompassing a circumferential end portion of the stent for securing it in place until dilation of the balloon.
