A position measuring device including a code having a sequence of code elements of equal width B that is disposed in a measurement direction and includes a first property and a second property. The sequence of codes elements includes a first set of code elements having the first property and a second set of code elements having the second property, wherein the first and second sets of code elements are each being disposed aperiodically. The position measuring device further including a scanning unit having a plurality of detectors for scanning the code and obtaining scanning signals, wherein a code word defining an absolute position is defined from the scanning signals. The position measuring device including an arrangement for forming an incremental signal from the scanning signals, wherein the arrangement includes a converter device and a collection device arranged downstream of the converter device and wherein the collection device forms respective intermittently periodic partial signals from the scanning signals derived from scanning positions in a spacing matrix.

Optoelectronic component assemblies include a carrier element having a recess, the recess having at least one stepped supporting surface in the region of its periphery at a defined height between the bottom of the recess and the top edge of the recess. Arranged above the optoelectronic component in the region of the recess is a transparent cover element which has a structuring in at least one partial area. The cover element rests in the region of the supporting surface and is secured in this region by a bonding material. The upper side of the cover element may project above the top edge of the recess. Different materials may be provided as an encapsulation material and a bonding material.

A position measuring device for detecting the spatial position of a movable element in relation to a base body, the device including a linear measuring device that measures a distance between a movable element and a base body and an angle-measuring apparatus that measures an angle between the movable element and the base body. A light source that directs light along a beam path, a detector within the beam path and a grating within the beam path between the light source and the detector. For measuring the angle, the beam path extends between the movable element and the base body so that an intensity strip pattern is created by illuminating the grating by the light source, whose position relative to the detector is a measure of the angle.

An angle measuring system for the contactless determination of an angle between a first object and a second object which can be moved with respect to each other, the angle measuring system including a first component having a light source and connected to a first object and a second component having a photodetector and connected to a second object. A grating is connected either to the first component or the second component, the grating having a combined amplitude-phase grating.

Angle measuring system

A position measuring device having a scanning element assigned to a periodic measuring graduation, the scanning element moves relative to the measuring graduation so as to scan the measuring graduation and generates a first analog signal and a second analog signal that is phase shifted relative to the first analog signal. A module that forms a measured position value, wherein the first and second analog signals are present at the module, and a code word defines a position that is present at an output of the module. An output module that digitally outputs the code word over a data channel and a conversion device that converts the first analog signal and the second analog signal into multi-digit amplitude-proportional code words, wherein the code words are also available at the output module for outputting on the data channel and is digitally transmitted by the output module over the data channel.

Position measuring device and a method for operating a position measuring device

A device for detecting thermally caused linear expansions of a machine element, wherein the device includes a temperature sensor placed along an expansion direction. The temperature sensor includes a first metallic conductor having an electrical resistance that is proportional to an average temperature of an area to be monitored and a plurality of trimmer tracks in the form of further metallic conductors placed next to the first metallic conductor. The temperature sensor further includes electrical connections selectively interconnecting the plurality of trimmer tracks with the first metallic conductor and wherein the plurality of the trimmer tracks have an effective electrical resistance that is proportional to the average temperature of the area to be monitored.

Device for detecting a thermal linear dilation on part of a machine

A calibration device for a parallel kinematic manipulator having a base unit and a manipulator platform movable with respect thereto, the manipulator platform being connected to the base unit via a plurality of joints and a plurality of variable length actuators. The calibration device for measuring n deviations in order to determine m unknowns includes a test workpiece that is mountable in a definite spatial position with respect to the base unit and has I&equals;m/n measuring mandrels. The calibration device also has a probing unit attached to the manipulator platform, and including n probing subsystems, the probing subsystems each including a distance measuring device for measuring the spatial position and spatial orientation of the measuring mandrels on the test workpiece.

To compensate for modules which expand as a function of temperature, the present invention provides for using a flat sensor having special structural components that feature temperature-dependent electrical conductivity over the entire length to be measured. The benefit derived is that the temperature is measured over the entire sensor. The structural components are interconnected into tracks, and linked to electronics integrated on the sensor. On its rear side, the sensor has an adhesive layer, enabling it to be simply adhesively mounted on the component to be measured. The manner in which the structural components are distributed, makes it possible to adjust the sensor to any desired length, simply by trimming it. After the sensor is mounted, a protective layer is adhesively applied thereto, as a protective measure. Moreover, sensors of this kind are arranged in accordance with the present invention on machine-tool parts which deform, to determine the temperature that is significant for dimensional accuracy. In this context, the sensors are positioned in parallel to the thermal deformation direction to be expected. By properly selecting these sensors, one can reduce the number of required sensors, as compared to known methods heretofore. An additional benefit derived from these sensors is the fact that only simple, linear calculations are required to precisely compensate for thermal deformations in the machine tool. The determined compensation signals are subsequently fed to position control loops of the machine tool.

Flat sensor, arrangement for a flat sensor, and method for compensating for thermal deformations

A device for detecting six components of the relative motion of two bodies during a primarily two-dimensional translatory basic motion is described. The device has a plate which is provided with a two-dimensional, optical grating, and which is equipped with a plurality of vertically arranged devices for distance measuring. A second element which is composed of an arrangement of two or three optical gratings, and a plane surface which is parallel to the gratings is included. The optical gratings permit a detection of the relative displacements in X- and Y- directions parallel to the lower plate via an evaluation of the variations in intensity of the reflected light.

Device for detecting the position of two bodies

An optical position measuring device, in particular for a drive for precise positioning, is recited, which comprises two drive units which are movable in respect to each other, wherein one of the two drive units has a graduation as an integral component. The latter can be scanned by a scanning unit connected with the other drive unit for generating position-dependent output signals. The graduation is directly or indirectly disposed on a level surface of the drive unit, from which a distance between the two drive units is created in such a way that by the cooperation of the two drive units the generation of a defined relative movement between the two drive units is possible.

Optical position measuring device

A position measuring system for increasing operational dependability, wherein the absolute position is generated by scanning a chain code and erroneously scanned code words are detected and excluded from further processing. A plurality of codes are scanned at areas of the code track which are distanced from each other and are supplied to an error check device.
