A biaxially-oriented film for thermoforming is disclosed including at least 75% by weight polyethylene and at least 95% by weight polyolefins, based on the total mass of the film. The polyethylene has an elongation at break of at least 7 in the stress-strain diagram, wherein the stress-strain diagram is measured at a temperature of 10° C. below the melting point of the polyethylene and the melting point is determined by differential scanning calorimetry using a heating rate of 10° C. per minute. A process for producing such films and to the use thereof are disclosed. A process for producing shaped bodies from such films and to the shaped bodies themselves are disclosed.

A method for producing a film including at least 20 wt % thermoplastic polymer and 50 to 75 wt % inorganic filler, and including the steps of: providing the mixture, melting the mixture, producing a thin layer from the mixture, cooling the thin layer, producing a film, stretching the film in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction, wherein the particle size of the inorganic filler is at most 5 μm and the stretch ratio in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction is at least 3.5. The disclosure further relates to films produced by the method and to the use thereof.

A biaxially oriented polyethylene foil (BOPE) is disclosed having layers (A) to (D), wherein layers (B) to (D) contain biaxially oriented polyethylene and layer (A) contains polyurethane and nanoparticles and has a layer thickness of 25 to 300 nm, layer (B) includes polymers having functional groups which are capable of forming covalent bonds with polyurethane and are directly connected to layer (A), layer (C) has at least a layer thickness of 50% of the total thickness of the foil and layer (D) represents an outer layer of the foil, which contains antiblocking agents.

Inline coated biaxially oriented polyethylene foil and method for the production thereof

The present invention relates to a biaxially oriented polyethylene foil (BOPE) comprising layers (A) to (D), wherein layers (B) to (D) contain biaxially oriented polyethylene and layer (A) contains polyurethane and nanoparticles and has a layer thickness of 25 to 300 nm, layer (B) comprises polymers having functional groups which are capable of forming covalent bonds with polyurethane and are directly connected to layer (A), layer (C) has at least a layer thickness of 50% of the total thickness of the foil and layer (D) represents an outer layer of the foil, which contains antiblocking agents. An inventive process for the production of a polymer composition is provided, said process comprising the incorporation of a filler into a polymer material, wherein said polymer material during incorporation of the filler is in at least partially molten state and wherein said filler is incorporated as a slurry.
