The invention relates to a switching device for short-circuiting and earthing at least two phases in an electric power network. The device comprises a first phase contact, a second phase contact, and an earthed, movable contact, which can, on the one hand, assume a first position, where the contact is insulated from the phases, and, on the other hand, a second position, where the contact is connected to the phase contacts and thereby earths and short-circuits the phases. The device is characterized in that the first phase contact and the second phase contact are axially displaced from each other and that they are disposed around the movable contact, and that the contact is cylinder-shaped and comprises two circumferentially disposed contact areas, which are axially displaced from each other and intended to connect to the phase contacts in the second position, so that the phases are short-circuited and earthed via the contact, and that the device comprises electrically insulating areas, which are adapted to abut against the phase contacts in the first position.

A duct system, especially an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, having flap valves ( ) for selective opening and closing of at least some of the ducts. The valves should be continuously adjustable in position in order to produce a swirl in the combustion airflow. To achieve this a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. Valve adjusting mechanisms are provided on the axles of the valves or in the mechanical connections of the valve gear pertaining to the valve drive mechanism.

An intake system for internal combustion engines with multiple cylinders (10). The intake system includes a first distribution chamber (13), one separate inlet pipe (15a, 15b) for each engine cylinder, which inlet pipes extend between the first distribution chamber (13) and inlet valve/valves of the corresponding cylinders, and at least one second distribution chamber (16, 16a, 16b). This is connectable to each inlet pipe (15a, 15b) between said first chamber and the inlet valve via one corresponding passage, which can be opened by means of an operable throttle valve (19). Each second distribution chamber (16, 16a, 16b) is connected to the first distribution chamber (13) via at least one resonance pipe (14), the inlet of which to the second distribution chamber is openable by means of an additional throttle valve (17).

A flow control valve including a movable part and a housing for accommodating the movable part may be produced by molding the components in sequential steps. Preferably, the housing is molded in a first step and the movable part is molded in an at least partially closed position in a second step in the same mold. This method enables the surface of the housing to serve as at least a portion of the mold for forming a substantially sealing portion of the movable part such that a very close tolerance between these components is achieved. The movable part is preferably a butterfly disc and the housing is preferably a butterfly valve housing.

A device at an intake system for internal combustion engines incorporating a return conduit (17) for exhaust gases between exhaust side and intake side, in said return conduit a valve (18) controlled by the engine speed, a connection flange (16) between engine block (10) and intake manifolds (14), said connection flange having through openings (14') for intake air to the cylinders (1-6), and an exhaust channel (17') arranged in the connection flange along the edge thereof, means for connecting the exhaust channel via said valve (18) to the engine exhaust side, said exhaust channel having branch conduits (20), communicating with the different through openings (14'). The connection flange is equipped with a further internal channel (19') extending along the exhaust channel (17'), but between this and the side of the connection flange (16) facing the intake manifolds (14), and which further channel (19') is connected to an outlet tube (11) forming part of the intake system before a throttle valve (12) provided therein for supply of air to the further channel (19').

This invention relates to a length adjustment device for adjusting predetermined maximum or minimum playless distance between two points (A) and (B). Known devices of this kind require visual inspection during the adjustment. The invention avoids the necessity of visual inspection by arranging a protruding means (52) at the end surface of the adjustment screw (5). This protruding device (52) interacts with a slot (23) in one of the longish elements (2,3), which are pivotally cojoined and form the actual length adjustment device (1).

An internal combustion engine includes at least one valve flap mounted for swinging movement in the intake duct upstream in the cylinder intake valve. The flap is magnetically attracted to a closed position when an electromagnetic is activated, in order to effect a delayed charging of the cylinder. When the electromagnet is fully or partially deactivated, a pressure differential acting across the flap swings the flap open.

Length-adjusting device is provided on a switch, intended to indicate the shift of an object from a normal position. The switch comprises a fixed part, intended to be assembled securely in a chassis for example, and a switch part which is movable relative to the latter and which can be changed between different positions for switching the switch depending on the position of the object. The length-adjusting device comprises a first part, which interacts with the object in its positional shifting movements, and a second part which interacts with the movable switch part such that the said second part attempts to hold the movable switch part in one of its positions. The length-adjusting device comprises at least one fluid chamber which changes volume upon relative movement between the first and the second part. A valve is connected to the chamber and permits the passage of fluid to or from the chamber and maintains a resistance to passage of fluid to or from the chamber and maintains a resistance to passage of fluid in the opposite direction. By this means the length-adjusting device adapts the position of the second part relative to the position of the first part to the distance between the normal position of the object and the switch.
