A detector assembly is provided and includes a board, a temperature response element and a support coupled to the board to support the temperature response element, the support including an elongate member having first and second opposing ends and being coupled to the board at the first end, guides through which temperature response element leads are threadable, and a saddle disposed at the elongate member second end to inhibit displacement of the temperature response element.

An intelligent notification appliance circuit has a controller and one or more addressable notification appliances coupled with a single pair of wires. The controller outputs integrated power, audio and control signals, and transmits the integrated signals to the one or more addressable notification appliances. Thus, the one or more addressable notification appliances are powered, operated, controlled, and monitored using the intelligent notification appliance circuit. When the intelligent notification appliance circuit is implemented in a fire and/or mass notification system, that system is able to provide integrated audio signals, power signals and control signals over a single pair of wires. The integrated audio signals may carry data indicative of live or recorded music and/or voice messages, such as: mass notification messages, general page, voice evacuation, and the like.

Life safety detector

A device for monitoring changes in airflow rates through detector dust filters in addition to assessing air for alarm indicators, including smoke, heat, gas, and relative humidity, is provided. A method monitors airflow through the detection device and provides a maintenance indication when the airflow has been reduced due to contamination of the dust filters.

A device with a multi-function test feature for assessing or directing multiple sensor functions is provided for monitoring and interrogating air flow through Heating/Ventilation/Air-conditioning (HVAC)-type ducts for changes to ambient conditions such as smoke, heat, gas, and/or relative humidity.

An auto synchronous output module for use at a plurality of zones in a fire alarm and detection system consisting of a power source and output devices selectively coupled to the power source so as to provide audible and visual signals, and a microprocessor within the module for coupling to a data line so as to enable transmission of data signals to and from a loop controller. Moreover, there is within the processor, responsive to an activate command from the loop controller for applying the power source to the output devices responsive to an alarm condition. In addition, within the processor, responsive to a synchronize command, sent subsequently to the activate command, from the loop controller, for applying power to the output devices in synchronism with application of other power sources to output devices at other respective modules.

A field programmable audible signal having voice message annunciating capability and a field programming device. The signal has two separate field programming paths. One path includes a built in microphone and the other is a facility to receive a download voice message from a field programming device as by a cable that plugs into both the signal and the programming device. The field programming device is capable of providing either of two messages during a download operation. The field programming device includes a record facility to change at least one of the messages and is small enough to fit in a hand held housing.

An alarm system for detecting and warning of the presence of alarm and trouble conditions in transponders located in a plurality of zones consisting of a loop controller having a plurality of input signal and power supply lines connected to the respective transponder units, and having a plurality of initiating and indicating devices in a respective plurality of circuits. Further, the system has a module, including a microcontroller, connected in each of the transponder units to the plurality of input lines and to the plurality of circuits, the module being capable of initiating communication of the conditions of the circuits to the loop controller. Moreover, it includes a plurality of smoke detectors, which are connected in the circuits and to respective modules. A load shed arrangement is provided for sensing the alarm conditions of the smoke detectors and reporting their conditions to the loop controller. It also permits, in the first instance, a first of the smoke detectors to draw operating current, but, thereafter, precludes the others of the plurality of smoke detectors from drawing their operating current.

A ground fault detection scheme uniquely incorporated within a distributed intelligence, fire alarm and detection system, such that detection is achieved with location identification. The modules (and transponders) of the system collaborate with the loop controller in performing ground fault operations to determine precise existing ground conditions at the module locations.
