A system is provided for calibration of vehicle electronic modules. The system includes: a vehicle and a computing device separate from the vehicle. The vehicle includes: a vehicle communications interface, configured to facilitate communications with a computing device without utilizing an Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) or on-board diagnostic (OBD) port; and a plurality of electronic modules, the plurality of electronic modules being configurable via calibration data received via the vehicle communications interface. The computing device includes: a computing device communications interface, configured to facilitate communications with the plurality of electronic modules of the vehicle via the vehicle communications interface; a human machine interface (HMI), configured to receive input from a user and to display information; and a processor, configured to execute a calibration application, the calibration application being configured to utilize the HMI of the computing device to receive input from the user, and further being configured to generate calibration data corresponding to the user input for transmission to respective vehicle electronic modules.

Calibrating electronic modules of a vehicle using a configuration application

Calibration for a vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) includes determining a trigger event configured to initiate a check for updates to calibration data files of the ECU, iterating through calibration part numbers present in the ECU, and accessing, from a memory device in communication with the vehicle, in response to the iterating, a chain of parts table in a linked list that maps calibration part numbers identified in the ECU unit to any subsequently-issued calibration part numbers. The subsequently-issued calibration part numbers reflect an index to the updates to the calibration data files. The calibration also includes searching the chain of parts table using the calibration part numbers identified in the ECU to determine a corresponding subsequently-issued calibration part number, selecting one of the updates to the calibration data files using the subsequently-issued calibration part number from the memory device, and updating the ECU with the selected update.

A method for displaying content items of a navigation system for a vehicle includes the steps of obtaining a scrolling input from a user, determining a value pertaining to the input, and displaying the content items at a first scrolling rate if the value is greater than a predetermined threshold.

Methods and systems for displaying content selections in vehicles

A vehicle navigation aid (nav-aid) system and method are provided to un-lock nav-aid functions in a moving vehicle. Sensors within the vehicle provide vehicle speed S and whether a person other the driver is present. For S greater than predetermined threshold speed S&#x2267;0, the nav-aid system remains in a locked-out state if a passenger is not present. When a passenger is present, then the system may accept some otherwise locked-out nav-aid requests. A warning and disclaimer message requiring positive acknowledgement thereof is desirable. In a preferred embodiment, the passenger should occupy a front seat and have a weight or size or both exceeding a predetermined (e.g., 'adult') threshold. Desirably, navigation aid access is precluded for S&#x3e;Sunless the occupied seat belts are latched. In a further embodiment, a user access status display indicates which nav-aid functions can be accessed depending on the vehicle status.

Occupant based navigation aid lock-out function

Methods and apparatus are provided for timeshifting audio content in a multiple tuner audio system comprising a first tuner and a second tuner. One operating method involves maintaining a first data storage element for the first tuner, maintaining a second data storage element for the second tuner, receiving first audio content in realtime by the first tuner, and storing data representing the first audio content in the first data storage element, resulting in first stored content. The method also receives second audio content in realtime by the second tuner, and stores data representing the second audio content in the second data storage element, resulting in second stored content. The method thereafter generates a timeshifted audio signal corresponding to the first stored content or the second stored content.

Timeshifting for a multiple-tuner vehicle radio system

An engine system and method for operating an internal combustion engine includes a turbocharger that generates a boost to the engine. A coolant temperature of the engine is determined along with other based engine inputs and calculated values. A normal boost based on operating conditions of the engine is determined. A supplemental boost is determined based on the coolant temperature. An offset boost based on the normal boost and the supplemental boost is determined. An air output of the turbocharger is modified based on the offset boost. The supplemental boost increases combustion efficiency, which reduces white smoke exhaust.

Control system to minimize white smoke using variable nozzle turbo

A control system and method for increasing engine temperature for an engine having a variable nozzle turbo (VNT) is provided. An offset idle module generates an offset idle signal. A normal boost module calculates a normal boost. A supplemental boost module calculates a supplemental boost. An offset boost module generates an offset boost signal for the VNT based on the normal boost and the supplemental boost. A control module adjusts engine idle and VNT boost based on the offset idle signal and the offset boost signal.
