The invention is a golf club head with a ball striking face including a plurality of recesses, a plurality of first grooves, and a plurality of second grooves that extend between a heel edge and a toe edge of the club head. The ball striking face includes a first material, for example a metal material, and the plurality of recesses are filled with a fill material, for example a polymer material. The depth of the grooves, the height of the grooves, the fill material, and the positioning of the grooves can all affect the performance of the club head. In some embodiments, the club head is a putter-type club head.

Golf clubs and golf club heads

A ball striking device, such as an iron-type golf club head, includes a face having a ball striking surface and a body connected to the face. The body has a sole surface extending rearward from a leading edge of the face, and a toe surface extending rearward from a toe edge of the face. The sole surface configured to confront the playing surface. The iron-type club head may have an elongated channel extending from a heel side in the sole member to an end point within the toe surface. The elongated channel is recessed from the sole surface and toe surfaces and is spaced from the leading and toe edges of the face. The iron-type club head may also have a plurality of weighting elements that are adjustable by the user.

Iron-type golf club head or other ball striking device

The invention is a golf club head with a strike face including a first elongated channel and a second elongated channel which both extend from a top-to-bottom center line of the striking face toward the heel edge and the toe edge of the strike face. The channels can be filled with a fill material, for example a polymer, and a groove may be defined in the strike face or in the fill material of one or more of the channels. The height of the channels, the hardness of the fill material, and the positioning of the groove can all affect the performance of the golf club head. In some embodiments, the golf club head is a putter-type club head.

A head for a ball striking device includes a face having a striking surface and a rear side located behind the face, a rear member connected to the rear side of the face member and having a front surface confronting the rear side of the face member, and a resilient material separating the rear member from the face member, such that the resilient member engages the rear member and the face member and is configured to transfer momentum between the face member and the rear member.

A golf club having improved visual feature recognition includes a golf club head coupled to a golf club shaft. The golf club head includes a hosel defining a bore, a sole, and a design attribute that is generally not capable of easy visual discernment. The bore has a first portion having a first diameter, a second portion having a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter, and a transition from the first diameter to the second diameter. The bore extends through the golf club head to the sole, and the golf club shaft is disposed within the first portion of the bore and secured to the hosel. A polymeric plug is disposed within the bore between the golf club shaft and the sole. The polymeric plug includes a restraining feature that contacts the transition to prevent withdrawal of the polymeric plug through the sole, and is a color that corresponds to the design attribute.

Golf club heads include an exposed ball striking surface at a top-to-bottom center line of the ball striking face having a first material and a second material of different hardnesses. A top-to-bottom cross section of the exposed ball striking surface at the top-to-bottom center line of the ball striking face has a structure that includes a plurality of grooves including: (a) a first groove having a first edge made of the first material and a second edge made from the second material, and (b) a second groove having its opposing edges made of the first material.
