Non-aqueous pigment concentrate comprising one or more pigments, one or more dispersants, and at least one resin, characterized in that the resin is a polyester comprising at least one oligo-ester building block with a hydrophobic tail linked thereto, wherein the hydrophobic tail is selected from the group consisting of: (a) branched hydrocarbons, (b) hydrocarbons containing a cyclic group, and (c) linear hydrocarbons, provided that when said linear hydrocarbon is linked to the oligo-ester building block via an ester group, the linear hydrocarbon contains 3 to 12 carbon atoms.

Pigment concentrate

The invention relates to a polyurethane dispersant resin having a polyurethane backbone having pendant hydrophilic polyalkylene oxide based side groups, the pendant side groups being linked to the polyurethane backbone via covalent bonds, and wherein the content of polyalkylene oxide in the polyurethane dispersant resin is at least 45% by weight, characterized in that the polyurethane additionally has pendant hydrophobic side groups which are linked to the polyurethane backbone via covalent bonds.

The invention relates to a solid pigment preparation comprising a pigment and a dispersant resin, wherein the composition comprises at least 35% by weight of at least one pigment and at most 65% by weight of dispersant resin, calculated on the combined weight of pigment and dispersant resin, wherein the dispersant resin comprises a polymer backbone produced by chain-reaction polymerization having pendent hydrophilic polyalkylene oxide side groups, and wherein the pigment particles within the preparation have average particle sizes in the range of 50 nm to 5,000 nm.
