As a module is formed, characteristics of the module are sensed by the module forming machine. A module record is generated that includes a module identifier, a module location, and one or more sensed characteristics. The module record is output for use by other machines or systems.

Utilizing crop moisture data

A harvester having a harvesting structure for harvesting crop and a crop receptacle for receiving harvested crop. The harvester comprises a crop conveying fan configured to operate at a fan speed to facilitate transfer of harvested crop from the harvesting structure to the crop receptacle. A control system for controlling the fan speed based on crop mass flow comprises a crop mass flow feedback device that provides a crop mass flow feedback signal indicative of crop mass flow. A controller is in communication with the crop mass flow feedback device and is configured to automatically lower the fan speed when the crop mass flow feedback signal indicates a lower crop mass flow and automatically raise the fan speed when the crop mass flow feedback signal indicates a higher crop mass flow.

Row unit lift structure includes electrohydraulic proportional valves connected to an electronic controller which receives inputs from a manual raise/lower switch, a rate response potentiometer, and height control potentiometers in the cab. Signals are also received from row unit height sensing transducers, a tachometer and shaft rotation sensors. When the units are lowered and operational, the controller compares the signals from the height sensing transducers with the signals from the height control potentiometers and sends an electrical control signal to the proportional valves to maintain a selected row unit height. The magnitude of the control signal and thus the rate of correction of height are determined by the rate response potentiometer and the amount of variation between the actual and desired row unit height.

A compactor for a cotton harvester basket includes an automatic compactor auger control system having a pair of optical sensors mounted in the basket utilizing light blockage to detect a preselected level of cotton in the basket. When the preselected cotton level is reached, a full basket signal is sent to a microprocessor based controller which activates the compactor augers if certain interlock conditions are satisfied. The microprocessor control maintains the augers in operation until the cotton is compacted below the preselected level so the light signal is no longer blocked. An adjustable timer assures compactor operation for a minimum period of time to prevent short, intermittent periods of operation when the basket is filling and permits timing adjustments to accommodate varying cotton conditions.
