An arrangement includes a housing, a plurality of sampling and analysis sites contained within the housing, each of the sampling and analysis sites having a skin-penetration member having a first end configured to pierce the skin, and an inner lumen in communication with the first end, an actuator operatively associated with the skin-penetration member, and an analyte quantification member in fluid communication with the inner lumen of the skin-penetration member. Integrated devices including such arrangements are also described.

An activity and volume sensing beverage container cap system for a beverage container including a cap that couples with the beverage container, a processor, a timer and at least one activity level sensor, such as an inclinometer, coupled with the processor. The activity level sensor detects container orientation. When the container is tilted, the timer measures an amount of time in an orientation. Based on the current and previous orientation and the amount of time the container is in different orientations, the processor determines an amount of time of activity of the user, and a level of activity of the user, such as number of steps or moves per time. The inclinometer is also used to determine the amount of volume dispensed from the container when tilted over a threshold indicative of drinking. Thus one inclinometer may be utilized as both to determine activity level and volume of fluid dispensed.

A volume sensing beverage container cap system for a beverage container including a cap that couples with the beverage container, a processor, flexible seal valve with a slit, handle, timer and an inclinometer. The inclinometer detects a tilt angle of the container when the container is tilted, and when tilted at the detected tilt angle, the timer measures an amount of time the container is tilted, and the processor determines a volume of fluid dispensed from the container based on the tilt angle and the amount of time the container is tilted. The handle rotatably couples with the cap and moves from a first closed position, to a second carrying position, and to a third open position. In the first closed position, the handle moves to cover the slit of flexible seal valve, and in the second carrying position and the third open position the handle uncovers the slit.

A cap for use with a beverage container comprising a housing that attaches to a beverage container, the housing comprising an opening for dispensing the contents of the beverage container and further comprising a valve activated by a valve button. A sensor within the housing estimates the amount of a fluid that has been dispensed from the opening and a display device is provided for displaying the amount of fluid that has been dispensed from the opening. The display device may be any type of display, including an LED display, and LCD display, or a plurality of indicator lights.

A valve and cap system for a beverage container including a button with at least one arm, a base element coupled with a beverage container and moveably coupled with the button, a top element, and a flexible seal valve with a slit. The flexible seal valve is coupled with the base element, and the at least one arm is coupled with the flexible seal valve to operatively open and close the slit in the flexible seal valve when the button is moved inwardly and outwardly respectively. The valve and cap system includes at least one electronic element situated in at least one compartment in the top element, and at least one sensor that senses one or more signals, to determine an amount of fluid a user of the beverage container should consume.

An eyeglass-mount display (EMD) device includes a frame, a display pod, and a personalized module removably coupled to the frame. The frame has a cross-bracket and a pair of ear pieces each coupled to an end of the cross-bracket. The display pod is mounted to the cross-bracket and includes an electronic image generator for generating an image and optics for creating a virtual image. The personalized module includes preset fitting adjustments specific to a particular user. The module may also include corrective optical lenses. The removable personalized module enables multiple users to share the same EMD frame and display pod without making numerous fitting adjustments upon donning the EMD.

An information display system comprises a controller, a ceiling node, a rail, an end cap and a solar powered display module. The display module stores and displays information. The controller communicates with the end cap through an IR downlink and an RF uplink, and the end cap communicates with the display module by wired communication. By uniquely combining RF and IR communication systems in the information display system, communication between the controller and the module is fast and accurate and the display module's power consumption is significantly reduced to make a solar powered information display system practical. By a unique power bus, excess power is shared.

Solar powered price display system

A reusable, evacuable enclosure comprising a bag with an opening in which to place compressible articles, such as clothing or linen, and a one-way valve in a surface of the bag. Compressible articles may be placed in the bag and sealed from the surrounding environment by placing a seal across the opening. The excess air in the bag may then be removed by placing a cylindrical attachment of a household vacuum cleaner over the one-way valve. Once the excess air is extracted, a cap is placed over the valve to ensure a permanent seal. Removal of excess air reduces the size of the compressible article and inhibits the growth of insects and bacteria, which may damage the contents of the bag. Moreover, the enclosure is impervious to moisture, and so inhibits the growth of mildew.

A module for displaying information which is electronically controllable and information which is not so controllable. Substantially the entire front (visible) face of the module is divided into two portions. One is the face of a LCD display. The second is the face of a solar cell. The face of the solar cell is covered by a transparent overlay which bears the non-controllable information.

An arrangement for adjusting the intensity of an electrodeless discharge lamp is described. In one embodiment the high-frequency signal delivered to the induction coil is interrupted during a predetermined portion of a full duty cycle. This function is provided by a dimmer control unit which may be in an analog or digital form and may respond to a control signal provided by a potentiometer, a three-way lighting fixture or an addressable, remote controlled interface with data transmitted over the power lines or over a radio or infrared communication channel. In another embodiment the dimmer control unit alters the amplitude of the high-frequency signal supplied to the lamp's induction coil.
