An electric walk behind greens mower having a traction drum split into a first half and a second half, each half rotatable at a different speed to provide traction drive and steering for the mower in response to actuation of hand controls by an operator, or in response to commands from an electronic controller based on the signals from a proximity sensor on the mower. The electric walk behind greens mower includes a pair of electric traction drive motors, one of the electric traction drive motors rotating each half of the split traction drum.

A rotary implement includes a metallic body that is rotatable around an axis. The metallic body includes a tapered leading edge having an interface surface and an opposite, free surface. The metallic body has a first composition. A metallic layer has a first side surface that is attached to the interface surface and a free, second side surface opposite from the first side surface. The metallic layer has a second, different composition from the first composition. A rotary machine can include an actuator and the rotary implement operably coupled to the actuator. A method for making a rotary implement includes providing the metallic body that has the tapered leading edge having the interface surface and the opposite, free surface. The metallic layer is then attached to the interface surface of the metallic body.

A method for powering a system in a vehicle, the method including the steps of mechanically coupling, driving and controlling. The mechanically coupling step includes coupling a power unit with at least one primary load, the at least one primary load including a propulsion load. The driving step includes driving a cleaning fan and a cleaning shoe with at least one power source, the at least one power source being mechanically independent from the power unit. The controlling step includes controlling a speed of the at least one power source independent of a speed of the power unit.

A user interface for managing energy from multiple energy sources on a hybrid vehicle displays information on the amount of energy available from a battery pack and liquid fuel tank, and allows the user to select when and how much stored energy is used from each energy source. The user interface may include an operator actuated control and a pair of gauges showing the amount of stored energy for the battery pack and the liquid fuel tank. The operator control may move the control between end settings that disable the internal combustion engine or minimize battery pack use.

User interface for energy sources on a hybrid vehicle

A vehicle includes a power unit mechanically couplable with one or more primary loads, including a propulsion load. At least one electrical storage device has an electrical output which is couplable with at least one external load over a drive period of time. Each external load is distinct from the one or more primary loads. A generator is mechanically couplable with the power unit and electrically couplable with the at least one electrical storage device. The generator has an electrical charging output to the at least one electrical storage device. At least one electrical processing circuit is configured for selectively coupling the at least one electrical storage device with one or more external loads. The at least one electrical processing circuit is also configured for selectively coupling the generator with the at least one electrical storage device over a charging period of time. The charging output and the charging period of time are dependent upon the electrical output from the at least one electrical storage device and the drive period of time.

Vehicle with electric hybrid powering of external loads and engine-off capability

A method and system for adaptively controlling a hybrid vehicle comprises a recorder for recording a historical load or duty cycle of vehicle during or after operation of the vehicle. A classifier classifies the historical load in accordance with a load category. A controller assigns at least one of a current control curve and a slew rate control curve associated with the load category for a defined time period after the recording of the historical load or if the vehicle is presently operating generally consistent with the load category. At least one of the current control curve and the slew rate control curve, or data representative thereof, are used to control an operation of an electric drive motor of the vehicle for the defined time period.

Method and system for adaptively controlling a hybrid vehicle

A metal guitar slide ring, for playing a stringed musical instrument such as a guitar in a slide style, is configured to accept insertion of a musician's finger and still allow the fingertips to remain flexible and free to play instrument strings. The ring is configured with non-parallel ends so that the effective slide bar length that contacts the strings can be varied by the musician by rotating the ring about the finger. The range of adjustment along with the capability of wearing a plurality of rings simultaneously enable a musician to play up to 12 possible intervals on a guitar without retuning compared to 4 intervals with a conventional guitar slide. At least a portion of the ring may be coated with a hard smooth slide surface for substantially improved playing qualities, aesthetically appealing appearance, and superior comfort.
