A mixer assembly () for mixing intake air from an intake system () with exhaust gas from an exhaust gas recirculation system () to yield a mixture stream includes an intake air conduit () having an inlet () fluidly connected to the intake system. The mixer assembly () also includes a mixer () having an inlet () fluidly connected to the exhaust gas recirculation system (). The mixer () is at least partially disposed in the intake air conduit () and includes an outer pipe () and a dividing portion () disposed within the outer pipe. The dividing portion () divides a first passage () from at least one second passage (), the first passage having an outlet (') that is at a first height, and the second passage having an outlet (&#x2032;) that is at a second height.

Multiple height fluid mixer and method of use

A cylinder head of an engine is disclosed, the cylinder head including an upper deck, a lower deck, and a sidewall extending between the upper deck and the lower deck. The lower deck defines a block-engaging portion and a combustion chamber flame deck. The combustion chamber flame deck is spaced apart from the block-engaging portion. An engine is also disclosed that includes a cylinder block having a cylinder bore, and a piston slidably positioned within the cylinder bore. The engine also includes a cylinder head having a lower deck connected to the cylinder block, the lower deck defining a block-engaging portion and a combustion chamber flame deck. The combustion chamber flame deck is spaced apart from the block-engaging portion by a recess.

Engine cylinder head

A piston and connecting rod assembly includes a piston crown, a piston skirt, a connecting rod, and a bearing insert. The piston skirt is a component separate from the piston crown and is connected to the piston crown to provide a piston body. The bearing insert is a component separate from the piston crown and the piston skirt and is fixedly disposed within the piston body. A bearing surface of a connecting rod contacts the bearing insert to thereby movably associate the connecting rod and the piston body.

A balancing mechanism for an engine that has a rotating crankshaft and reciprocating pistons such as those engines used in automobiles, aircrafts, boats, piston-driven compressors, piston-driven slider crank mechanisms, etc. The present balancing mechanism may comprise a first balance mass non-rotatably affixed to the crankshaft and a second balance mass rotatably supported on the crankshaft. A driver assembly is affixed to crankshaft to cause the second balance mass to rotate in a direction that is opposite to the direction in which the crank shaft is rotating. The driver assembly may include auxiliary gears configured to transport rotary power to auxiliary components.

Engine balance apparatus and accessory drive device

A guide for supporting sliding movement of a movable member includes a guide body having an outer surface, a first portion defining a first end of the guide body, and a second portion defining a second end of the guide body. A void is provided between the first and second ends and is defined by an inner surface of the guide body. A plurality of cooling projections project from the outer surface of the first portion, and a flange for stabilizing the guide projects radially from the guide body and defines a boundary between the guide's first and second portions. The guide may be adapted as, for example, a valve guide for use in an internal combustion engine for guiding the reciprocating sliding movement of a valve stem.

Guide for a movable member

An in-line opposed cylinder engine constructed of a pair of half blocks which when combined form a pair of spaced cylinder heads and an intermediate crankcase and in which the cylinder heads and the intermediate crankcase are tied together by a plurality of spaced elongated through bolts which extend through the cylinder heads and through the half blocks. Each cylinder head is integral with the remainder of the half block and is preferably of a composite construction with a core of steel or the like which forms the cylinder bore, the firing deck, the exhaust ports and the valve guide as well as the main bearing supports. A matrix structure of lighter material such as aluminum is cast around the core and forms the induction air passages to the intake ports, the coolant passages, oil passages, and the main bearing bosses.

Engine construction

A valve actuation device. The device may include a free floating valve bridge movably supported within a cavity in the engine housing. The bridge may be provided with a cavity and an orifice arrangement for pumping gases entrained with lubricating fluid toward the piston stems as the bridge reciprocates back and forth. The device may also include a rocker arm that has a U-shaped cross-sectional shape for receiving at least a portion of the valve bridge, valve stem valve spring and spring retainer therein. The rocker arm may be provided with lubrication passages for directing lubrication to the point wherein it is pivotally affixed to the engine housing.

Compact valve actuation mechanism

A fuel control system responsive to a power controller and controlling a fuel delivery system. The fuel control system includes a control arm connected to both the power controller and the fuel delivery system, a position sensor connected to the control arm, and a trim controller connected to the control arm at a pivot point and connected to the position sensor.

A turbine engine construction comprises an accessory drive mechanism in which accessories are mounted circumferentially around the turbine casing. The engine includes a planetary gear mechanism driven by a shaft extending axially outward from compressor and turbine sections of the engine, and forwardly of the air intake in the turbine casing. Accessory drive assembly includes a planetary gear mechanism having a ring gear exposed through circumferentially spaced apertures in the turbine casing to driven gears extending outwardly from accessory housings secured to the periphery of the turbine casing.

Accessory drive for a turbine engine

A torque measuring device is provided for measuring the engine torque of an engine having an output shaft and connecting through a gear box having a planetary gear arrangement to a load. The torque measuring device comprises a hub having an axis and supporting the stationary member of the planetary gear arrangement coaxial with the axis of the hub. An annulus is secured to and supports the gear box housing and is also secured to the hub by a plurality of circumferentially spaced spokes extending between the annulus and the hub and tangent to some circle coaxial to the hub. As the torque applied to the planetary gear arrangement increases, the hub rotates from its at rest position deflecting the spokes in proportion to the reaction torque of the stationary members. An arm extending outwardly from the hub cooperates with a position transducer to measure the amount of rotation of the hub with respect to the annulus and thus the torque on the planetary gear arrangement.
