A barrier system and method for providing a barrier system are disclosed. The barrier system and method relate to a vehicle and pedestrian barrier system which can be positioned in vehicle and pedestrian passageways adjacent a protected structure or area to preclude the vehicle or the pedestrian from reaching and engaging the protected structure or area.

An apparatus for carrying out a multi-step process of converting hydrocarbon fuel to a substantially pure hydrogen gas feed includes a plurality of reaction zones arranged in an insulated, box-shaped, compact fuel processor. The multi-step process includes preheating the hydrocarbon fuel utilizing integration with the inherent exothermic processes utilized with the fuel processor, reacting the preheated hydrocarbon fuel to form the hydrogen rich gas, and purifying the hydrogen rich gas to produce a gas that is suitable for consumption in a fuel cell.

Compact fuel processor

An apparatus for carrying out a multi-step process of converting hydrocarbon fuel to a substantially pure hydrogen gas feed includes a plurality of modules stacked end-to-end along a common axis. Each module includes a shell having an interior space defining a passageway for the flow of gas from a first end of the shell to a second end of the shell opposite the first end, and a processing core being contained within the interior space for effecting a chemical, thermal, or physical change to a gas stream passing axially through the module. The multi-step process includes: providing a fuel processor having a plurality of modules stacked end-to-end along a common axis; and feeding the hydrocarbon fuel successively through each of the modules in an axial direction through the tubular reactor to produce the hydrogen rich gas.

Compact fuel processor for producing a hydrogen rich gas

A system and method for automatically loading tires into a tire transport frame is disclosed. The system stacks a plurality of tires in a herringbone pattern within a tire transport frame. The tire transport frame provides a structure that maintains the stacked tires in a stable, compressed state. Further, the tire transport frame may be adapted to withstand external loads so that multiple tire transport frames may be stacked atop one another for long term storage of tires. Further, the loaded tire transport frames may be easily loaded by forklift into a vessel for storage and/or transportation without requiring significant expenditures of manual labor, time, space, or cost. As a result, the instant invention enables significant improvements in reliability, cost, and capacity in the storage and/or transportation of tires. The system of the instant invention comprises a conveyor to maintain a flow of tires; a tire transport frame for receiving and retaining a plurality of tires stacked in a herringbone pattern; and a plurality of pick-and-place loaders for seizing a plurality of tires from the conveyor, rotating the plurality of tires into alignment with one another as well as in complementary herringbone pattern alignment with the tires in the tire transport frame, placing the plurality of tires together, and placing the plurality of tires into the tire transport frame to propagate the herringbone pattern of the stack of tires.

A hand-held portable lawn and garden tool having implements. A housing encloses a motor and at least two sets of gears arranged in cascade to provide low speed and high torque to the implements. Each set of gears is a sun gear with a plurality of planetary gears. The tool may be energized by battery packs, line power or internal combustion engines.

A three-point hitch furrow sweep and trash shredder are positioned with the furrow sweep being centered over the furrows for moving stalks onto the ridges where they are acted upon by the shredders. The shredders include a rotor in a housing having a plurality of pivotal hammers which work upon the trash and drive the trash through a perforated screen which reduces the size of the trash particles and returns it to the ground. The furrow sweeps include a pair of coulters in back to back oppositely facing relationship centered over the center line of the furrows or a single coulter for each furrow. The rotor of an electrical motor, such as a hybrid permanent magnet stepping motor or a variable reluctance motor is assembled on a rotor shaft, and includes at least one lamination stack and a pair of supporting bearings, with the outer diameter of the bearings being slightly larger than that of the lamination stack. A stator is assembled from a stator lamination stack including a pole configuration and a pair of unmachined end caps registered and secured to the lamination stack such as by thru bolts. The registered stator assembly is potted to unitize the assembly, fixing the relationship between the end caps and the lamination stack, and providing a smooth continuous bore through the center of the stator assembly. The thus potted assembly is machined as by diamond lapping to form a continuous bore accurately machined through the center of the stator, concurrently forming bearing surfaces in the end caps and an intermediate machined section in the lamination stack. The rotor assembly is inserted into the stator assembly, with the machined bore providing bearing mounting surfaces in the end caps and an air gap for rotation of the rotor in the lamination stack.

Encapsulated motor with precision bearing registration

A portable apparatus adapted for use in filling chuck holes in paved surfaces with a sulphur-based material that has been heated to a plasticized condition. The apparatus includes an electrically heated furnace in which an auger is mounted for the purpose of moving a sulphur-based material through the furnace at a controlled rate (e.g., about 2 feet per minute), such that the material will be elevated to a temperature of above 305 degrees Farenheit (the melting point of sulphur) to produce a tenacious filler material. The furnace is heated by tubular resistance heaters that are bent in a spiral fashion around a mandrel, so that they may be placed in intimate contact with the exterior of a tube which constitutes the core of the furnace. The furnace is fed by a hopper that is mounted above the entry point for the auger, so that dry material may be fed--by gravity--into the furnace whenever a gate-valve mechanism is opened. The furnace and its hopper are relatively light weight, typically weighing only about 360 pounds, and are readily moved about by one person when supporting wheels are installed on the bottom of a frame that supports the furnace. A tandem-axle trailer provides an optimum way of transporting the furnace and the ancillary materials and equipment that are used with the furnace, e.g., a portable generator, a small air compressor, bags of the hole-filling material, etc.

The coil winding machine (10) winds a series of interconnected coil bundles within winding forms (28). The winding forms are transferred from a coil winding station (29), at which the coil is wound in the pie-shaped cavity of the winding form, to a coil removal station (237,293,61), at which the winding form is separated and the coil is removed and placed on a storage arbor (54) in the proper order for later assembly in a transformer, and finally, after reassembly of the winding form, back to the winding station.
