A control system for a marine vessel having three or more engines is disclosed. The three or more engines may be operated via one or two control levers from each of one or more control stations. The control system may include a first control lever and a second control lever, each of which has an associated operating range. The control levers operate the engine throttle and transmission controls for three or more engines in a plurality of modes. This may be accomplished under software control using a digital data link between respective engine control units associated with the engines.

Systems and methods for control of multiple engine marine vessels

A modular power control apparatus for use with a plurality of peripheral devices. A plurality of modules, which connect to the peripheral devices, are supported by a housing. An interface module is supported by the housing to selectively interface with the plurality of modules for routing data to an appropriate module and peripheral device. A data communication cable is connected to the interface module for transferring data between the interface module and anyone of a variety of devices. A power source is also connected to the housing. The vehicle assembly is characterized by a modular connector supported by the housing and electrically connected to the power source. The modular connector includes a plurality of identical slots with the plurality of modules and the interface module being electrically connected to any one of the identical slots to transfer data between the modules and to provide electrical power to at least one of the modules, thereby facilitating communication with the peripheral devices and providing electrical power to at least one of the peripheral devices within the vehicle assembly.

A multipoint, multiple function recorder which can record, display, and process up to 135 input/output data points, either analog or discrete, in various combinations. A strip chart recorder is provided for permanently recording input and output data points and, in conjunction with the chart recorder, a separate programmable dot matrix display is provided, such display being responsive to the same input/output data points and operable for displaying data in both alphanumeric and graphic form, the display being independently operable from said chart recorder, such that said input/output points are displayable at different times from the times when they are being printed on the chart recorder.

A multipoint recorder having a counter for producing sequential address signals for sequential selection by randomly addressable input switching means and recording by randomly addressable recording means. A randomly addressable visual display indicating the point being recorded is also connected to the common bus output of the counter. This provides a recorder in which no circuit or mechanical means is required solely to provide synchronization of the input switching means, the recording means and the visual display.

A string of short pulses is impressed across the input circuit of a multipoint recorder and a pulse magnitude detecting circuit. If the input circuit is open, the magnitude of the pulses appearing at the pulse magnitude detecting circuit is higher than would be the case if the input circuit were completed by a normal input device. The pulse magnitude detecting circuit is operable to apply to the measuring circuit of the multipoint recorder a positive potential whenever the pulse detecting circuit detects pulses of a magnitude indicating that the input circuit is open. As a result, the multipoint recorder is driven upscale to its limit where the particular point which is open-circuited is identified by a printed indicia.
