A conference collaboration system has a server connected to a network and configured to generate a page view requested by a client device over the network and provide dynamic content associated with the requested page view for display on the device; and a database configured to store the dynamic content, update the dynamic content in response to commands from the server, and provide the dynamic content to the server in response to requests from the server, wherein the dynamic content is associated with a plurality of services, each shown in a page view, and the dynamic content and the services are associated with a conference. The server can determine an authorization level of a user interacting with the client device and provide a page view and dynamic content in response to the authorization level, and the dynamic content is updated or created in response to or for actions during the conference.

A method and system for maintaining the execution speed of a multiprocessor computer system includes automatically detecting a change in instruction execution rate in a disabled processor by a threshold amount and determining an amount of change in instruction execution rate to adjust an actual system-level instruction execution rate to approximate a target system-level instruction execution rate. The target system-level execution rate being pre-determined. Thereafter, the method adjusts one or more instruction processor execution rates such that the actual system-level instruction execution rate approximates the target system-level instruction execution rate to overcome the loss of the disabled processor. One embodiment of the invention involves the use of a processor key for licensing of processor resources within the computer system and offers the option of enabling a dynamic processor recovery method as well as an automatic execution rate regulation method.

System and method for maintaining a constant processor service level in a computer

A method of dynamically allocating the amount of input/output (I/O) rate capacity to partitions in a computer system includes determining a total amount of I/O rate capacity and an economic value of each partition within the partitioned computer system. The economic value is defined as a performance-valued product established for each partition wherein the sum of all performance-value products for each partition defines a total economic value for the computer. The I/O rate to be allocated to each partition is calculated to be a portion of the total amount of I/O rate capacity where the portion allocated to each partition is proportional to the economic value of that respective partition. The calculated rate allocations are recorded in memory which is accessible to each partition. After recording, each partition regulates its I/O usage according to the recorded allocation.

A method for specifying an operating system (OS) file to use in a computing system after a system reboot begins by copying at least one new OS file to a system disk. An OS file to be installed is selected from the new OS files on the disk. The system is booted into the selected OS file, the selected OS file becoming the currently running OS on the system. A boot pointer on the system disk is updated to point to the selected OS file, such that any subsequent reboot will be into the selected OS file.

A method and apparatus for ensuring the coherence of multiple copies of the same data at multiple geographic locations is presented. The system operating system, the system operator or some combination of both may determine the physical disks having the file or comprising the disk families containing data which requires protection. Using the MIRROR CREATE commands in a Unisys MCP operating system environment, a mirrored disk pack set is made for each relevant physical disk identified. The disk pack set is distributed amongst at least two geographic locations. For each member of each disk pack set, the STORESAFE&plus;command associates a site identifier with the member corresponding to the member's geographic location. During application processing, disk writes for one member of a mirrored set are performed for each member of the set. The MCP operating system checks the results of each disk write to each of the members of the mirrored disk set. If the MCP operating system determines that a write was successful for at least one member of the mirrored set at each geographic location, then a &ldquo;good&rdquo; I/O result is returned to the application and application processing continues normally. By contrast, if the MCP operating system determines that for least one site identifier, no member of the set assigned the identifier experienced a successful disk write, then an IOERROR is returned, and application processing may optionally be halted.

Method and apparatus for ensuring data integrity

A method of providing a service, to a plurality of terminals on a communication network, through a server on the communication network includes the following steps: 1) coupling a correlator to the network which links a unique name for the server to multiple network addresses; 2) providing a set of multiple computers on the network, each of which performs the service and is assigned a different one of the multiple network addresses; and, 3) incorporating a network address selector on the network which directs any one of the terminals to a single one of the computers, when an operator of that one terminal generates a request for the service which includes the unique name of the server. Due to this method, the server has a virtual single network address which means that from the point of view of an operator of a terminal, the service is being provided by a single computer on the network that has a single network address that corresponds to the server's unique name. But in reality, the requested service is being provided to the terminal by different computers at different times, depending upon which computer is selected by the network address selector.

A method of transferring funds electronically, is performed by a group of N computers X(1) thru X(N) which are intercoupled to each other, and to another computer Y, by a communication channel. Each computer of the group includes multiple customer accounts, and the computer Y includes a net account for each computer of the group. To initiate the transfer of funds between two customer accounts, a customer sends an input request to one of computers X(i) of the group; and this input request specifies that funds F(z) be transferred in a particular direction between a customer account A(r) in computer X(i) and a customer account A(s) in another computer X(j) of the group. For each input request that is received by computer X(i), a respective sequence of electronic control messages is sent on the communication channel among the computers X(i), X(j) and Y. By this sequence of control messages, computer X(i) tests the status of customer account A(r); computer X(j) tests the status of customer account A(s); and computer Y tests the status of the net accounts for computers X(i) and X(j). If all of the tests by the computers X(i) and x(j) are satisfied, then those computers both authorize computer Y to transfer the funds F(z) between the net accounts for computers X(i) and X(j); and if all of the tests by computer Y are satisfied, then computer Y authorizes the computers X(i) and X(j) to transfer the funds F(z) between the customer accounts A(r) and A(s). This authorization from all three computers eliminates the need to reverse a transfer of funds; and consequently, the transferred funds are available for withdrawal immediately after the sequence of messages is completed successfully.
