The present invention provides a skylight frame design that is adapted to receive at least two panels of glass. The skylight frame comprises a stepped frame section that includes a lower step surface and an upper step surface. The lower step surface is adapted to receive a first glass panel so that a section of the first glass panel lies flush against the lower step surface. Similarly, the upper step surface is adapted to receive a second glass panel so that the second glass panel lies flush against the upper step surface. The skylight frame design of the invention is either incorporated into a skylight frame that may be attached to a curb unit on a roof or it may be an integral part of a skylight frame-curb assembly that also contains a curb section.

The present invention provides a window frame design that is adapted to receive at least two light-panels. A method for making a heating element adhered to a substrate by applying a photocurable composition to a flexible substrate in a pattern having one or more grid lines is provided. The photocurable composition is curable into an electrically conductive layer and volatile organic compounds are present in an amount of less than about 10% total weight of the photocurable composition. After the pattern is deposited on the substrate is cured by illuminating the photocurable composition with light for a sufficient period of time to cure the photocurable composition. Heating elements made by the method are also provided.

Metal nitrides are prepared by reacting a metal halide with an amine at an elevated temperature. The process is useful for depositing titanium nitride and vanadium nitride films onto glass, to make solar control automotive and architectural glazings.

This invention is directed to a glass substrate having deposited thereon an electroconductive coating useful for defrosting the glass. The coating comprises three layers. The first layer deposited on the glass is selected from the group consisting essentially of: (a) silicon oxide and (b) silicon nitride and it is deposited on at least a portion of a surface of the glass substrate. The second layer comprises an electrically conductive material selected from the group consisting essentially of (a) aluminum doped zinc oxide and (b) gallium doped zinc oxide. It is deposited on at least a portion of the first layer in a thickness of at least 1 micron. This second layer has a sheet resistance of less than 20 ohms per square. A third layer comprising a protective material is deposited on and is at least coextensive with the second layer. It is deposited in a thickness of at least 10 microns and is selected from the group of materials consisting essentially of: (a) fluorine doped tin oxide, and (b) silicon nitride. This third layer has a refractive index within 10% of that of the second layer.

Atmospheric pressure CVD process for preparing fluorine-doped tungsten

A plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition method is provided for depositing an oxide film onto a substrate surface. Deposition is achieved even onto a surface of a glass or other relatively non-receptive substrate. A sub-film is deposited under plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition conditions more strongly favoring deposition, followed by deposition of the desired oxide film under second plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition conditions less strongly favoring deposition. High quality oxide films can be achieved by deposition at second plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition conditions only marginally favoring deposition over etching.

A titanium tetrahalide is reacted with a primary alkyl or aryl amine to prepare a metallo-organic precursor, which thereafter may be volatilized to form a gaseous chemical vapor deposition precursor to titanium nitride, or may be pyrolyzed to form bulk titanium nitride.

The procsses disclosed is for preparing a film of fluorine-modified tungsten oxide on a substrate. The process comprises providing a tungsten oxide film on the substrate and then exposing the tungsten oxide film at an elevated temperature to a stream of a gaseous fluorocarbon. The exposure takes place for a time sufficient to modify the tungsten oxide with fluorine and form a film having modified infrared adsorption and reflectant properties.
