A mower blade spindle assembly includes a drive shaft having a hub received on threaded end of the shaft. The shaft is tapered from the root diameter of the last thread and the hub is correspondingly tapered so as to provide a thread relief. The end of the shaft on which the hub is received has a threaded bore extending axially therein for receiving a blade mounting bolt. The bore is counterbored to a depth corresponding to the length of the threaded portion receiving the hub.

A bagger attachment for a tractor has a bag frame that includes a pair of upright brackets fixed to the rear end of the tractor which support, for vertical sliding action, a pair of plates fixed to respective bag rims. There is provided, on the lawn mower, an upwardly and rearwardly projecting grass duct that has its upper discharge end positioned over the bag rims and which directs the grass clippings in a transverse direction. Flexible bags are provided on each of the rims and depend therefrom. A bagger lid receives the discharge end of the tube. The lid is mounted on an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the portion of the duct that extends through the opening in the lid so that as the lid is raised, the duct will slide through the opening. For discharging the bag, the rim may be raised to cause the horizontal plates to slide free of the vertical brackets. The lid has, at its lower edge, a rib that snaps under the respective rims and tends to rigidify the bag assembly, as well as to hold down the lid. The rib may be used to retain plastic liners that have their upper ends draped over the rims.

A silencer means particularly suited to two-cycle internal combustion engines includes an exhaust inlet pipe to receive exhaust from the exhaust ports of an engine, communicating with a diverging conical section which is followed by an exhaust chamber. An elliptically-shaped flat plate is located in the straight tubular section comprising the exhaust chamber. The plate is angled to produce a converging area at the end of the expansion chamber. An exhaust pipe or stinger is in communication with the interior of the expansion chamber in close proximity to the surface of the flat plate to receive engine exhaust gases and conduct the gases to the surrounding environment. Alternatively, the stinger can be so constructed that both ends of the stinger are closed, having a plurality of perforations in proximity to each end of the stinger to receive and exhaust gases to the surrounding environment from the exhaust chamber.

Silencer means for internal combustion engines

A tuning chamber means particularly suited to two-cycle internal combustion engines includes an exhaust inlet pipe to receive exhaust from the exhaust ports of an engine, communicating with a diverging conical section which is followed by an exhaust chamber. Exhaust tuning means for internal combustion engines

A lawn mower blade includes a leading flat portion, at each of its opposite ends, sharpened to define a cutting edge and a trailing vane is joined to and is angled upwardly in trailing relationship to each flat portion. In one embodiment, the vanes are each in the form of a lift wing and perforations or holes are located in the leading flat portion ahead of the lift wing and provide air pressure relief passages. In another embodiment the vanes include lift wings and bagging paddles joined to the lift wings and including second leading flat portions to which trailing fins are joined. The second leading flat portion is either recessed to form a space between outer end portions of the fin and flat portion or is perforated to provide air pressure relief passages.

Low noise producing lawn mower blade

An air intake silencer includes a box-shaped expansion chamber constructed of identically dimensioned, separable havles respectively connected to a carburetor intake system and a tubular intake member. In a basic form of the silencer, the tubular intake member includes a metal tube mounted in the expansion chamber and having a single elongate opening in communication with the interior of the chamber, the tube being connected so as to form a continuation of a hose located exteriorly of the chamber. For obtaining more effective silencing, air distribution and filtering the basic form of the silencer may be altered by dividing the expansion chamber in half with a perforated baffle plate and/or by substituting a perforated metal tube for the aforedescribed metal tube.
