A transient over-voltage suppressor circuit for a motor vehicle power supply system that includes a diode-rectified alternating current generator. The suppressor circuit comprises a dual coil relay, a Zener diode and a small resistor having a positive temperature coefficient of resistance. The Zener diode and relay coils are connected across the output terminals of a bridge rectifier connected to the generator and when a transient over-voltage occurs the contacts of the relay are closed. When the relay contacts close they connect the resistor and one of the relay coils across the output terminals of the bridge rectifier. The relay contacts open when the resistance of the resistor increases to a predetermined value.

Transient over-voltage protection circuit

An electrical connector for connecting a DIP and a wiring harness comprising a socket, terminals and a cover. The DIP has two sets of tabs which project from opposite sides of an insulated block and which are folded over onto the top and bottom surfaces of the block respectively. The DIP is disposed in a longitudinal slot at one end of the socket which is between two rows of terminal cavities. A terminal in each cavity is attached to a lead of the wiring harness and has a flexible contact bow engaging one of the tabs of the DIP. The cover is mounted over the slotted end of the socket to retain the DIP.

Electrical connector

A noise tolerant time division multiplex system including a transmitter and receiver, each constructed as a monolithic integrated circuit and interconnected by a serial data wire. Data as well as power is supplied to the transmitter from a plurality of parallel connected input switches. The transmitter includes a parallel in/serial out shift register controlled by timing logic and further includes a tri-state driver for generating a three-level serial output signal indicative of the status of the input switches. The data is generated at a high rate to eliminate any deleterious effects of noise on the system. The receiver chip receives a regulated energizing potential from the transmitter chip over two additional wires, generates a timing signal from the three-level signal and loads the data in binary format into a serial in/parallel out shift register. When the data is properly positioned in the receiver register the data is transferred to latches which energize appropriate relays to control the direction of rotation of various motors controlling the seats, windows and door locks of an automobile.

Noise tolerant multiplex system

A two-piece socket terminal is crimped to the end of an ignition wire and detachably connected to a spark plug stud terminal. The terminal comprises an attachment member of crimpable semi-hard steel having a corrugated channel at one end and a tee-shaped support at an opposite end, and a socket member of spring tempered steel having a split sleeve at one end and a longitudinal tongue at an opposite end. The attachment and socket members are secured to each other by clamping arms of the tee-shaped support bent over the longitudinal tongue. The tongue has circumferential tabs behind the clamping arms providing a mechanical interlock in the pull-off direction while the foremost internal rib of the corrugated channel provides a stop in the push-on direction. The terminal provides a direct electrical connection between the ignition wire conductor core and the socket piece which is enhanced by forward projecting tabs of the corrugated channel. In-line and angled embodiments are disclosed.
