A fluid flow regulator has a housing with a cylindrical chamber. A member in the form of a ball having a diameter slightly less than the diameter of the chamber can move within the chamber. In one embodiment, a bypass channel in the chamber extends around the ball. Fluid flow in the inlet passes through the orifice created between the ball and the channel, creating a pressure drop so that the fluid on the inlet side of the ball is at a higher pressure than the fluid on the other side. The resultant pressure force urges the ball against a spring. Fluid on the other side of the ball exits the chamber through a radial outlet slot positioned near the ball. When the inlet pressure and flow increases, the ball moves toward the outlet slot to cover a greater percentage of the outlet slot, which raises the pressure drop into the outlet, thereby compensating for the increased inlet pressure. A second longitudinal channel terminates on the downstream side of the ball. Inlet flow can use the second slot to bypass the ball, but movement of the ball can open or close the second channel to varying degrees. The second channel provides a way of changing the degree of regulation of the flow controller. In another embodiment, fluid is directed to opposite sides of the ball through two channels, a higher pressure and a lower pressure channel. An orifice in the lower pressure channel creates a pressure drop to decrease the pressure in the lower pressure channel relative to the pressure in the higher pressure channel. Increasing flow increases the pressure on the higher pressure side of the ball to urge the ball over a greater portion of the outlet.

Fluid flow regulator

An electrical switch assembly has an L-shaped housing with a base, an endwall and sidewalls which may be molded as a single piece. The endwall is provided with receiving slots for at least one metal plate serving as an arcing plate and with a central guide channel for a plunger arm which carries a contact blade. Stationary contact assemblies which have contact clamps are fit into receiving channels formed in the base and held down by hold-down rails alongside the channels. The bottoms of the channels include anti-turn channels for the heads of lug screws to facilitate assembly. A cover, which also has a centrally located guide channel for the plunger arm is fastened to the sidewalls. A baffle extends from the outer surface of the cover between the stationary terminal assemblies. A side shield extends from one sidewall. The exposed edge of the base remote from the endwall includes a lip with interlocking grooves adapted to slide into engagement with interlocking receiving grooves formed into the edge of the base under the endwall of an adjoining module and to snap into holding engagement by the resilient seating of a ridge on the edge of the base into a matching depression on the lip.

Electrical switch assembly

A two-piece spring latch assembly operable as a closure device for a load center cabinet, wherein the latch assembly is slidably engagable with the door of a load center cabinet. The latch assembly includes a sliding latch body having a top surface with a depression for facilitating engagement of the latch body. The latch body also includes a latch member for engaging the frame of the load center cabinet. A latch spring is mounted to the latch member and defines a spring member for urging the sliding latch body into a latched position. The latch spring also defines a latch bearing surface and a strike bearing surface. These surfaces are fabricated from the same material as the spring member and resist wear through repeated cycles of engagement and disengagement with the frame of the load center cabinet.
