A computing system may mount on an ownship vehicle. The computing system may include a memory configured to store three-dimensional radar data indicating weather proximate to the ownship vehicle; a touchscreen; and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to output, for display by the touchscreen, a two-dimensional overhead profile of the weather proximate to the ownship vehicle; receive, from the touchscreen, an indication of a selected region of the weather proximate to the ownship vehicle; determine, based on the three-dimensional radar data, additional information corresponding to the selected region of the weather; and output, for display by the touchscreen, the two-dimensional overhead profile of the weather overlaid with an indication of the additional information about the selected region.

Displaying weather information corresponding to a selected region

A radar altimeter is provided that includes a transmitter operable to generate a radio signal at a modulation frequency, and transmit the radio signal toward a ground surface for reflection therefrom to thereby propagate a reflected radio signal. The radar altimeter also includes a receiver operable to receive the reflected radio signal, and determine the altitude of the aircraft based on the modulation frequency of the radio signal and a difference frequency derived from the radio signal and the reflected radio signal. The receiver is also operable to control the transmitter so as to vary the modulation frequency of the radio signal based on the altitude of the aircraft. Preferably, the modulation frequency of the radio signal is greater at lower altitudes than at higher altitudes.

A closed loop automatic gain compensation method and circuit for a radio transmission and reception system formed of a radio frequency transmitter coupled through a high power amplifier to a radio frequency antenna to transmit a radio frequency transmission signal, the automatic gain compensation circuit utilizing the preexisting radio system cabling.
