The present invention provides a self feeding drill press lathe attachment designed for rotating a workpiece along a horizontal axis to remove material from the workpiece to form it into a desired shape. The drill press lathe attachment comprises a base and a power transfer box along with components commonly found on a lathe, but without a motor. The drill press lathe attachment, or 'motorless' lathe, may be mounted directly to the bed of an existing drill press thereby providing an alternative means of achieving turning operations without needing a traditional motor driven lathe.

The present invention provides a drill press lathe attachment designed for rotating a workpiece along a horizontal axis to remove material from the workpiece to form it into a desired shape. A neural network is trained with a general set of data to function as a general model of a machine or process with local condition inputs set equal to zero. The network is then retrained or receives additional training on an extentd data set containing the general set of data, characterized by zero values for the local condition inputs, and data on specific local conditions, characterized by non-zero values for the local condition inputs. The result is a trained neural network which functions as a general model when the inputs for the local conditions inputs are set equal to zero, and which functions as a model of some specific local condition when the local condition inputs match the encoding of the some local data set contained within the training data. The neural network has an architecture and a number of neurons such that its functioning as the local model is partially dependent upon its functioning as the general model. This trained neural network is combined with sensors, actuators, a control and communications computer and with a user interface to function as combine control system.

An agricultural combine having a transverse threshing cylinder and concave and an axial separator. The axial separator is provided with two side-by-side axial separator units, each unit having a rotor and a casing for housing the rotor. The casings are non-concentric housing having a semi-circular top, a semi-circular bottom and straight side walls joining the top and bottom. The rotor is provided with fixed teeth that extend radially outward from the rotor. The rotor is located at the bottom of the casing so the teeth can engage and penetrate the crop material at the bottom of the casing. The rotor throws the crop material upwardly against the top of the casing which is provided with downwardly projecting spiral vanes for directing the crop rearwardly. The rotor is rotated so that the tip speed of the teeth is greater than or equal to 11.8 m/sec and less than or equal to 20.9 m/sec.

Operation parameters for an axial separator

Leaves and other debris arranged in piles along a roadway are lifted by a flail-type rotary cutting device towed centrally behind a tractor. The device includes a containment hood having a forwardly opening throat which is adjustable to conform generally to the size of the piles for receiving the piles and restricting the material from being thrown forwardly from under the hood particularly at the end of a pile. The lifted material is delivered into a receptacle towed behind the cutting device. The rotary cutting device can handle leaves and other debris in states ranging from dry and fluffy to frozen and snow-covered. The tractor and/or additional brushes may be used for preliminary piles sizing and positioning. Brushes may also be added to the machine for additional cleaning action and to help part wide piles.

Off-road utility vehicle for lawn care

A mower deck assembly including a unitary housing with an upper, dome-shaped portion is fabricated from a plastic or laminate material. A modular drive including blade spindles and a belt drive is assembled onto a rigid flat metal suppport plate, and the plate is lifted into position within the housing with the drive received within the dome shaped portion. The support plate is fastened to the housing, and is isolated therefrom with elastomeric material to reduce noise and vibration and seal out dust. The dome-shaped portion and the plate define a drive housing which encloses the drive and protects the spindles and belt drive from the environment. The plastic or laminate material can be easily and inexpensively formed to provide the curved surfaces and the like for the housing with the loading being absorbed by the metal support plate.

In an axial flow rotary separator, the crop material engaging elements of the eccentrically mounted rotor include helically oriented deflecting surfaces of significant axial extent which in operation, sweep closely or 'wipe' a separating grate of the separator casing while the helical surfaces contribute to axial indexing of the material.

An Improved Timing Device used as a tool to reduce the time required to tune an 8.2 liter diesel engine or any similar engine which utilizes the same timing procedure, the timing device preferred embodiment comprises a mounting plate, a housing assembly having a pressure and pilot guide side, and a location pin. The displacement of the location pin may be effectuated by using a pneumatic, electrical, or mechanical power source having a control switch which allows the user to set the location pin of the device into the location point of the vehicle's flywheel from the engine compartment, thus eliminating the necessity of resetting by hand the location pin from underneath the vehicle for each piston of the vehicle's engine. The Improved Timing Device would replace the old style hand positioned location pin or similar devices used for determining the top dead center of each of the vehicle's pistons when setting the valves and injectors to the manufacturer's specification.

In the axial flow rotary separator of a combine harvester spiral propulsion of the crop material mat is achieved through the cooperation of helical guide vanes in the separator casing and rotor fingers free to swing axially. The rotor is eccentrically mounted so that each finger fully engages the mat for only part of each revolution. While in engagement, the fingers maintain the circumferential propulsion of the mat but each finger is free to be carried downstream by the mat under the influence of the guide vanes, deflected from its normal free fully radially extending position. On disengagement from the mat, centrifugal force restores the finger to its fully extended position ready for reengagement of the mat.

The axial flow rotary separator of a self-propelled combine employs dual side-by-side rotors sharing a common infeed opening. Finger-like crop engaging elements of the rotors are propelled in orbits both oblique and eccentric with respect to the separator casings. The rotors are counter rotating and a stream of threshed crop material is delivered towards the bite of the rotors so that it is carried through between the rotors and divided against an opposite floor of the infeed casing. The fingers are disposed so that, as the rotor rotates, the degree of engagement of each finger with the crop material stream varies and so that, while in its principal engagement with the material, each finger propels portions of the crop material stream generally spirally downstream.

Feeding arrangement for an axial flow rotary separator

An ion exchange water purification apparatus in a unitary housing which makes use of gravity and a manometer effect to flow water through the water treatment beds. The apparatus has an untreated water reservoir at the top, untreated water flows by gravity and the manometer effect through a series of three water treatment beds containing carbon, cation exchange resin and anion exchange resin, respectively. The media in each water treatment chamber is in cartridge form and may be easily removed through the removable top of each water treatment chamber. Treated water from the final water treatment chamber is collected in a reservoir within the housing below the untreated water reservoir. The three water treatment chambers are located within the treated water reservoir to economize on space. The pressure in the water treatment chambers and the treated water reservoir is equalized with the pressure in the untreated reservoir by manometer vent tubes so that as long as there is water in the untreated water reservoir, the treated water reservoir will remain full due to gravity and the manometer effect.
