A first endpoint comprises a fabric attach point for attachment to a memory fabric, a first media controller, and a first non-volatile memory media. The memory fabric comprises a reliability zone comprising the first endpoint and at least a second endpoint. The first media controller is configured to receive, from at least one processor coupled to the first endpoint via the at least one fabric attach point, a memory fabric store command to store an object in the reliability zone. The first media controller is further configured to store the object in the first non-volatile memory media, to receive from the second endpoint a message indicating that the same object has been stored by the second endpoint, and to send to the at least one processor a single acknowledgement indicating that the at least one object has been stored in both the first and second endpoints of the reliability zone.

The method also includes scheduling the given application workload to run on information technology (IT) infrastructure utilizing the given hardware configuration, the given hardware configuration comprising a first set of a plurality of heterogeneous elements of the IT infrastructure, monitoring the IT infrastructure, and modifying the given hardware configuration for the given application workload based on aligning the application workload specification template with a second hardware configuration template in the repository responsive to said monitoring, the modified hardware configuration comprising a second set of the plurality of heterogeneous elements of the IT infrastructure.

A method includes receiving an application request comprising specifications for a given application workload, selecting a given hardware configuration for the given application workload using one or more hardware configuration templates and information identifying a plurality of heterogeneous elements of the information technology infrastructure, modifying the application request to generate an enhanced application request specifying the given hardware configuration, and providing the enhanced application request to a scheduler, the enhanced application request being utilizable by the scheduler to select from the plurality of heterogeneous elements of the information technology infrastructure to schedule the given application workload.

A method includes obtaining instructions at a mobile device comprising directions from a current location of the mobile device to a target location in a facility over a path identified by two or more waypoint devices distributed in the facility, receiving signaling over at least one wireless network from a selected one of the waypoint devices in the path, utilizing a radio frequency signal strength of the received signaling to estimate proximity between the mobile device and the selected waypoint device, presenting an indication of proximity to the first waypoint device via the mobile device based at least in part on the estimated proximity, determining whether the estimated proximity between the mobile device and the selected waypoint device is below a proximity threshold, and selecting another one of the waypoint devices in the path responsive to determining that the estimated proximity is below the proximity threshold.

A method includes selecting, for each of a plurality of application workloads, first and second configuration templates based on aligning an application workload specification template with first and second pluralities of configuration templates in respective first and second repositories. The method also includes scheduling the application workloads to run on the information technology infrastructure utilizing respective ones of the first configuration templates each comprising a set of heterogeneous elements of the information technology infrastructure. The OAS system is capable of discovering the addition of newly added storage devices to the plurality of storage devices after the OAS system has been at least partially populated so that at least some of the plurality of storage devices have content units already stored thereon, and in response to the discovery of newly added storage devices, configuring the newly discovered storage devices to increase the storage capacity of the OAS system and to enable content units to be stored thereon.

One embodiment relates to a computer system comprising at least one host, at least one object addressable storage (OAS) system and at least one communication medium that couples the at least one host to the at least one OAS system. The at least one OAS system has a plurality of storage devices and stores a plurality of content units on the plurality of storage devices. Each of the at least one host and the at least one OAS system has software that provides a OAS interface so that each one of the content units stored on the OAS system may be identified between the at least one host and the at least one OAS using an object identifier. The computer system maps the object identifier for a first of the plurality of content units to at least one of the plurality of storage devices over at least one first path. In response to a failure that prevents the at least one host from accessing the first content unit via the at least one first path, the computer system is automatically reconfigured to establish at least one previously non-established second path that enables the at least one host to access the first content unit using the object identifier for the first content unit.

Methods and apparatus for reconfiguring a storage system

A recovery method for use in a data storage system in which a plurality of data storage devices are connected to each of two communication paths. A switch may route requests to either of the two communication paths. With one data storage controller in communication with the data storage devices over a first path and a second data storage controller in communication with the data storage devices over a second path, upon detection of a malfunction on the first path, a data storage controller may request access to the other path. Thereafter, the controller may be switched into connection with the remaining operable path so as to share that path with the other controller.

Fail-over switching system

A recovery method and fail-over switch for use in a data storage system in which a plurality of data storage devices are connected to each of two communication paths. The switch may route requests to either of the two communication paths. Switching may be accomplished by two fail-over switches connected to each other and each in connection with one of the two communication paths. With one data storage controller in communication with the data storage devices over a first path and a second data storage controller in communication with the data storage devices over a second path, the fail-over switches may be used upon detection of a malfunction on one path to switch a controller into connection with the remaining operable path so as to share that path with the other controller.

A high frequency signal and a low frequency signal are coupled onto a pair of conductors providing a communication link between two computer components. The high frequency signal may be a differentially coupled Fibre Channel 8B/10B encoded signal. A diplexer includes a low pass filter for attenuating the Fibre Channel signal and a high pass filter for separately attenuating the low frequency signal. A two-way communication link may be provided over twinax cable. An environmental monitor may be in connection with the low frequency communication path.
