Methods and systems for controlling the structure of animated documents are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method includes displaying, via a graphical user interface, a representation of a document, where the document includes a programmatic component configured to create an animation by manipulating a structure of the document, a static structure of the document corresponds to the structure of the document when the animation is not performed, and the animation, upon execution, is rendered starting from an original base state that at least partially defines the static structure. The method also includes, in response to receiving a selection corresponding to a state of the animation, designating the selected state as a new base state, wherein the new base state is different from the original base state. The method further includes altering the static structure of the document to correspond to the new base state.

Controlling the structure of animated documents

Disclosed are embodiments for defining animation of content. One exemplary embodiment calls for receiving an indication of a location for an animation pin on a timeline associated with a content editing environment configured for editing content. The embodiment involves recording a state of the content in response to receiving the indication of the location for the animation pin, the recorded state of the content associated with a first time and comprising a value associated with a property. Additionally, the embodiment involves receiving a user input indicating an edited state of the content at a second time different from the first time, the second state associated with the location of the animation pin on the timeline and defining an animation based at least in part on the recorded state and the edited state of the content.

Animation via pin that defines multiple key frames

Methods and systems for animation timelines using value templates are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method includes generating a data structure corresponding to a graphical representation of a timeline and creating an animation of an element along the timeline, where the animation modifies a property of the element according to a function, and where the function uses a combination of a string with a numerical value to render the animation. The method also includes adding a command corresponding to the animation into the data structure, where the command is configured to return the numerical value, and where the data structure includes a value template that produces the combination of the string with the numerical value. The method further includes passing the produced combination of the string with the numerical value to the function and executing the function to animate the element.

Value templates in animation timelines

A web page authoring tool is provided enables a developer to interact with run-time output presentation of a page being authored. The web page authoring tool includes an embedded browser that supports a 'live preview mode' that enables a run-time page to be viewed. Thus, the live preview mode presents an operational run-time output presentation that is generated by browser source code (rather than original source code), just as would be presented by a client-side browser, and which may present a code view of the run-time browser source code that generates such run-time output presentation. Further, the run-time output presentation view provided by the web page authoring tool remains interoperable with certain authoring support functions of the web page authoring tool, such as enabling a developer to easily access corresponding original source code for selected portions of a run-time page view.

Web development environment that enables a developer to interact with run-time output presentation of a page

Systems and methods are provided for freezing operation of dynamic code of a run-time web page, such as freezing JavaScript code of a web page. A software application that is being employed for analyzing a web page includes functionality to enable a user to freeze operation of dynamic code, such as JavaScript code, of the run-time page, thereby allowing the user to view, analyze, and/or modify the page's output presentation and/or underlying source files at the given state at which the page was frozen. Such software application may comprise a web page authoring tool or a client-side analysis tool (e.g., testing tool), as examples.

System and method for freezing operation of dynamic code of a run-time web page

Systems and methods are provided for style sheet language coding that maintains a desired relationship between display elements. An authoring tool receives a desired attribute for a first display element, and the authoring tool generates style sheet language code for defining attributes of at least one other display element to maintain a predefined relationship between the display elements. Accordingly, as a developer defines (e.g., creates, modifies, etc.) attributes for one of the display elements, the authoring tool autonomously updates the style sheet language code to define the attributes of the other display elements to maintain the predefined relationship therebetween. In certain embodiments, the authoring tool provides an interface that enables a developer to directly define certain attributes of a display element, wherein the authoring tool generates style sheet language code to indirectly define the attributes in a manner that reflects the developer's direct definition thereof.

System and method for style sheet language coding that maintains a desired relationship between display elements

A development environment is described that includes identifying relevant code or rules applicable to various elements of a hierarchical document and displaying the relevant code or rules to a user within a display interface of the development environment. The system recognizes document elements highlighted by a user and searches through a data structure of the code or rules applied to the hierarchical document for code or rules that expressly reference the element selected by the user. The system then searches the data structure of the code or rules applied to the parent elements of the selected element. The discovered code or rules are then displayed to the user in the development environment along with any properties that are associated with the code or rules. The development system determines which of the properties do not apply to the selected element and render a marker indicating the non-applicability of that property.
