Provided are video nodes for wireless networks and methods thereof that wirelessly extend a wired surveillance system. A wireless interface device services wireless communications between a wired video surveillance network and a wireless viewing node. According to another aspect, a wireless interface device transmits an alert over the wireless network upon a triggering event. In yet another aspect, a technique for viewing an image source from a surveillance system includes displaying available surveillance systems for a user to select according to a display criteria and responsive to selection of an available surveillance system, enabling wireless access to the surveillance system.

Surveillance apparatus and method for wireless mesh network

The embodiments described in this disclosure address the above issues and others. Accordingly, a self-configuring IP video router provides a plug-and-play transport interface between two LANs, one of which is the host to multiple IP video cameras or servers. In accordance with an aspect of the disclosure, plug-and-play functionality provides that the device can be connected to both networks via standard hardware interfaces, discover the video sources on the 'inside' network, and configure itself to do the appropriate IP address mapping and IP port transport across the interface between the networks.

Self-configuring IP video router

Provided are mesh video nodes for wireless mesh networks and methods thereof. A mesh video node includes a wireless interface unit, a multimedia processing unit, an input/output unit, and a control panel interface unit. The mesh video node is configured via a user interface with a communications channel selector and a node selector, where each channel is associated with a predetermined frequency channel, and each node is associated with an internet protocol address. A method of deployment is also provided via a user interface that visually represents link qualities between neighboring nodes.

Video node for wireless mesh network

A network multiple physical layer interface connected to a first communications network physical layer and through a MODEM to a second physical layer wherein the interface includes circuitry for selecting transmission and reception frequency bandwidths for the MODEM and also includes a first transceiver circuit for receiving data from the first physical layer and transmitting this data through the MODEM to the second physical layer and a second transceiver circuit for receiving data from the second physical layer through the MODEM and retransmitting the data on the first physical layer. The interface further includes user selectable modes to enable this interface to provide a communications connection to only the first physical layer or to both physical layers. Still further, the interface includes collision avoidance circuitry to prevent any transmissions onto the network through this interface when information traffic is present on either physical layer.
