An apparatus for supporting an X-ray source in a space having at least one wall and used for exposing patients to X-ray radiation, the apparatus comprising: an upright support member mountable adjacent to the wall; a slidably movable carriage supported by the support member and slidable thereto for planar movement in a plane parallel to the wall; a source assembly mounted to the slidable carriage, and adapted to receive the X-ray source, the source assembly including: a horizontally projecting base member fixed to the carriage; a horizontally extending tubular member pivotally mounted to the base member for pivotal motion in a horizontal plane; a stem receivably journalled within the tubular member for horizontal reciprocation with respect thereto; and a source attachment fixed to the source and including a collar journalled around the stem to provide rotational movement in a vertical plane about the stem.

Positioning apparatus for X-ray source

An X-ray film cassette holder 10 including a clamping mechanism for centering a film cassette C therein as the holder is inserted into an associated X-ray machine, and also including a position measuring device 184 for sensing the dimensions of the film cassette. The clamping mechanism has two positioning assemblies 34 and 36 that act to position the film cassette C in two orthogonal directions and an actuator mechanism 148 that links the positioning operation to the insertion movement, all mounted on a tray 12 that is adapted for insertion into the X-ray machine. The two positioning assemblies 34 and 36 include parallel clamps 44 and 46 and 52 and 54 attached to slides 102 and 106 and 122 and 136 of double slider-crank mechanism 86 and 88 so that the clamps move in opposite directions as the crank 92 and 110 rotate about a pivot 90 in the center of the tray 12. One of the cranks 92 is spring biased, while the other crank 110 is releasably coupled to the actuator mechanism 148 by a pawl 168 to limit insertion and withdrawal forces.

X-ray film cassette holder

An improvement in Source-to-Image Distance monitors for automatic adjusting X-ray radiography equipment having a cable, rewind spring, a self-traversing constant diameter takeup drum moving past a fixed aperture, an electrical potentiometer to provide a continuously varying electrical output signal and a snap action switch mechanism to indicate relative movement of the X-ray apparatus being monitored.

SID Monitor

An X-ray cassette holder (10, 10') includes a frame (12) on which an associated X-ray cassette C is to be centered by two pairs of opposed clamp members 52, 52' and 54, 54' slideably arranged on the frame (12) for movement toward and away from one another in first and second perpendicular directions of movement. At least one pair of opposed clamp members are resiliently connected to an actuator arrangement (18) which will cause the members to move toward one another and center an associated cassette C on the holder frame (12) as holder (10, 10') is being inserted into an associated X-ray machine.

X-Ray cassette holder

A cylindrical lens-prism light-line generating apparatus utilizing a slit-type aperture provides for origination, collimation and projection of a light-line which cooperates with a light localizer beam in aid of aligning an X-ray beam path preparatory to radiography.

Prism light-line system

An X-ray collimator is disclosed having longitudinal and cross shutter assemblies disposed between an input port and an output port. Image area boundaries are defined by two pairs of inner edge portions. Mating inner edge portions of each pair move in an essentially rectilinear path.

Compact collimator

An X-ray collimator comprising an X-ray shielded enclosure having aligned entrance and exit apertures for permitting passage of an X-ray beam, the exit aperture having a generally rectangular configuration defined by edges of two orthogonally disposed pairs of opposing rotatable exit shutter elements. Each of the exit shutter elements has a generally semi-cylindrical configuration and is concentrically disposed about a respective axis of rotation. Each pair of semi-cylindrical exit shutter elements is mounted for opposing rotatable movement within the other pair of semi-cylindrical exit shutter elements. The entrace aperture of the housing may be defined by two orthogonally disposed pairs of opposing shutter plates, one pair thereof being directly linked to an associated pair of semi-cylindrical exit shutter elements for corresponding movement therewith.

Compact X-ray collimator

An apparatus for the automatic processing of dental x-ray film having a horizontally disposed spiralling film processing chamber (14) such that fluid retaining tanks (16), (18), (20) and (22) are created by the lower portion of each spiralling revolution, the sidewalls (40) and (42) of the spiralling chamber having pairs of opposing arcuate film travelling grooves (44) and (45), a central shaft (32) rotates along the principle axis of the spiralling chamber (14) and film impellers (50), (52), (54), (56) and (60) are rotated by the shaft (32) for impelling film (43) along the grooves (44) and (45) through said spiralling chamber (14).
