Systems, devices and/or methods include communication of information, such as real-time rich media (e.g., video and audio) to, from and/or between a mobile first responder, such as remote public safety field personnel for public safety applications. Sensor data may be captured, stored, or transmitted and disseminated in real-time or on a schedule from field officers or their vehicles, based on one or more defined rules. In some examples, communication priority may be determined in response to detecting one or more events at a location of a mobile first responder.

Systems, devices and methods to communicate public safety information

A secure access system includes at least one lock, at least one electronic key with stored information assigned to a user and a system administration for administering user access privileges. A method for remotely updating the user's expired access privileges includes establishing communication between the user and the system administration from a location remote from the system administration, receiving a remote privilege code from the system administration, communicating the remote privilege code to the lock, and, if authorized, the lock validating the privilege code to renew the user's access privileges. The validated privilege code can also be made effective to access other different locks within the system.

A key control system includes at least one premise, a lockbox capable of securing a key to the premise and at least one mobile telephone associated with a user and having a stored access device program capable of communicating an access request to the lockbox. The premise is subject to authorized access by others, such as the user, based on preferences of an approval party established with the system. If specified by these preferences, the mobile telephone automatically initiates a communication to a selected destination to request approval of the access request.

Key control with real time communications to remote locations

A method of, and a system for, detecting an occurrence of a surge in a gas turbine engine. The method includes steps, executed during consecutively occurring time periods, of: obtaining filtered derivatives of first and second engine operating characteristics; comparing the filtered derivatives of the first and the second engine operating characteristics to first and second threshold values, respectively; and incrementing a count only if both of the filtered derivatives exceed their respective threshold values. Otherwise, a next step decrements the count if one or both of the filtered derivatives do not exceed their respective threshold values. The method further includes a step of indicating a surge condition only if the count is equal to a predetermined value that is greater than unity. In a presently preferred embodiment of this invention the engine is a turbofan engine, the first engine operating characteristic is fan speed, and the second engine operating characteristic is exhaust gas temperature.
