A process for producing a sulfamyl fluoride composition includes providing a solution comprising fluorosulfonic acid, urea and a solvent; reacting the solution at a reaction temperature from 80° C. to about 170° C. to produce a mixture including sulfamyl fluoride, bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide, ammonium fluorosulfate and the solvent; separating the ammonium fluorosulfate from the mixture; and separating the mixture into a sulfamyl fluoride composition and a recycle composition, the sulfamyl fluoride composition including a higher concentration of sulfamyl fluoride and bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide than the recycle composition. A mole ratio of the fluorosulfonic acid to the urea in the solution is from about 1.80:1 to about 2.00:1.

Existing currency validation (CVAL) devices, systems, and methods are too slow, costly, intrusive, and/or bulky to be routinely used in common transaction locations (e.g., at checkout, at an automatic teller machine, etc.). Presented herein are devices, systems, and methods to facilitate optical validation of documents, merchandise, or currency at common transaction locations and to do so in an obtrusive and convenient way. More specifically, the present invention embraces a validation device that may be used alone or integrated within a larger system (e.g., point of sale system, kiosk, etc.). The present invention also embraces methods for currency validation using the validation device, as well as methods for improving the quality and consistency of data captured by the validation device for validation.

A process for treating an ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct includes providing an ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct including primarily ammonium fluorosulfate and lesser amounts of fluorosulfonic acid and bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide, mixing the ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct with water, reacting the mixture of the ammonium fluorosulfate byproduct and the water at a hydrolysis reaction temperature to hydrolyze the ammonium fluorosulfate, the fluorosulfonic acid and the bis(fluorosulfonyl) imide to form ammonium bisulfate and aqueous hydrogen fluoride; and separating the ammonium bisulfate from the aqueous hydrogen fluoride.

In one exemplary embodiment, a transparent conductor comprises a substrate having a surface and a transparent conductive coating disposed on the surface of the substrate. The transparent conductive coating has a plurality of conductive components of at least one type and an aliphatic isocyanate-based polyurethane component.

Transparent conductors and methods for fabricating transparent conductors are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method for fabricating a transparent conductor comprises forming a dispersion comprising a plurality of conductive components and a solvent, applying the dispersion to a substrate in an environment having a predetermined atmospheric humidity that is based on a selected surface resistivity of the transparent conductor, and causing the solvent to at least partially evaporate such that the plurality of conductive components remains overlying the substrate.

In one exemplary embodiment, a transparent conductor comprises a substrate and a transparent conductive coating disposed overlying the substrate. A corrosion resistant coated fuel cell plate and method of making the same are embodied in a metal plate provided with a multilayered conductive coating and then with an overcoat which fills in fine scale porosities in the coating. In one preferred embodiment, the overcoating is amorphous graphite applied through a deposition process. In another preferred embodiment, overcoating is a thin layer of oxide created by chemical anodization process.

Sintered silicon nitride products comprising predominantly &#x3b2;-silicon nitride grains in combination with from about 0.1 to 30 mole % silicon carbide, and grain boundary secondary phases of scandium oxide and scandium disilicate. A composite face seal has an annular seal rotor and an annular seal stator, both having a metal base portion and a radially extending flange. The flange has first and second axially facing surfaces. A first ceramic ring may be mounted to the first surface of the flange of either or both of the seal rotor and the seal stator by a first braze joint. A ceramic ball bearing assembly has raceway components generally held in residual compression by accompanying metal attachments. In a ceramic ball bearing assembly, an outer raceway is formed that is held in compression by a circumscribing steel ring. The components may be fitted together with the ceramic raceway subject to thermal contraction while the steel ring is subject to thermal expansion. Upon mating, the ceramic raceway slightly expands while the steel ring slightly contracts to impose residual compression upon the ceramic raceway. The residual compression preserves the ceramic raceway despite thermal or other stresses of operating environment. An inner ceramic raceway is constructed by employing one of several of the herein described methods, and the ceramic ball bearing assembly of the present invention may use balls, needles, cylinders, or other rolling elements in order to achieve smooth angular translation between the inner and outer ceramic raceways.
