Volatile organic compounds and water vapor are recovered from a low-boiling gas by compressing the gas to an elevated pressure and cooling the gas in stages to condense volatile components and water while avoiding freezing in the system. Operating the system at an elevated pressure increases condensation efficiency, reduces the number of stages required, and minimizes operating problems to avoid freezing.

Substance loss is minimized in a station for loading a container with cryogenic substance stored in a tank. A throttle vent valve is provided at the outlet vent of a container being loaded for controlling the differential pressure between the storage tank and the container. The throttle vent valve is adjusted to maintain the differential pressure at a value equal to the optimum differential pressure for minimizing substance loss. The optimum differential pressure is selected by determining the filling loss for a plurality of values of differential pressure and selecting the differential pressure which produces the minimum filling loss.

Method and system for filling cryogenic liquid containers

Substance loss is minimized in a station for loading a container with cryogenic substance stored in a tank. A throttle vent valve is provided at the outlet vent of a container being loaded for controlling the differential pressure between the storage tank and the container. The pressure of the substance being loaded and the pressure within the container are sensed and the differential pressure is monitored. The throttle vent valve is adjusted to bring the differential pressure to a value equal to the optimum differential pressure for minimizing substance loss. The optimum differential pressure is selected by determining the filling loss for a plurality of values of differential pressure and selecting the differential pressure which produces the minimum filing loss. Overfilling of the container is prevented by sensing the temperature at the outlet vent and terminating the supply of substance to the container when the temperature of the vent reaches a predetermined level. Cavitation is prevented by supplying substance to the pump and activating the pump in response to a predetermined pump temperature.

Method and system for filling liquid cylinders

A system and method for loading liquid gases into a container includes supplying substance to a pump simultaneously with the evacuation of the container for cooling the pump down during evacuation and starting the pump motor when the pump has reached a low temperature determined in accordance with the pressure of the substance storage tank. An analyzer for detecting the presence of contaminants is coupled to the evacuation line in fluid communication with the substance removed from the cylinders. Cavitation during the loading operation is detected by monitoring the flow of substance from the pump. A plurality of containers of differing sizes are loaded simultaneously on the same manifold. An isolation valve is provided in the manifold for terminating flow of substance to smaller containers when the smaller containers are full while permitting substance to continue to flow to larger containers coupled to the manifold.

Automated cylinder transfill system and method

The present invention involves a process for separating components of a feed gas containing acid gases and hydrocarbons to form a CO.sub.2 -rich stream, an H.sub.2 S-rich stream and a hydrocarbon-rich stream. Separation is achieved by initially passing the feed gas through a plurality of membrane separation units to produce a hydrocarbon stream and an acid gas stream. The acid gas stream undergoes further separation to produce a CO.sub.2 -rich product stream and an H.sub.2 S-rich stream. This process is especially adaptable for treating natural gas streams and gas streams resulting from enhanced oil recovery operations.
