Cable brackets are formed out of wire and have flat areas swaged into them to provide suitable mounting surfaces. The wire is of sufficient diameter to provide structural rigidity to the bracket and the flattened areas are of such dimension to provide an area sufficiently large enough for a mounting hole.

Wire formed cable brackets

A printed wiring board file employing guide tracks of wire construction to engage guide runners of printed wiring board assemblies to be mounted therein. The guide tracks are assembled to lateral positioning members at regular or optionally, predetermined differing spacings and each guide includes a forwardly projecting divergent lead-in area to assist in aligning the board assembly guide runner with the file guide tracks. A pair of depressions are formed in each guide track to engage corresponding projections in the guide runners to retain the board assemblies in their fully inserted position within the file.

A printed wiring board assembly including a printed wiring board including a pair of guide runners attached to an upper and a lower edge thereof. The guide runners include an elongated body, a pair of elongated walls extending the length of and from one side of the body, and a groove formed the length of and on a second opposite side of the body. Projections extend from one of the elongated walls through apertures in the printed wiring board to retain the guide runners in engagement with the board. Protrusions extend into the groove and engage depressions in guide tracks of an associated printed wiring board file to lock the board assembly in its fully inserted position within the file.

Printed wiring board assembly employing track engaging runners

An enclosure for a printed wiring board. The enclosure includes a U-shaped channel member having a ledge in each of its sides. Each ledge has a floor and a wall, and each wall includes at least one projection. A printed wiring board is retained against the ledge floors by means of the projections acting against the printed wiring board. Longitudinal motion of the printed wiring board, in its retained position, is prevented by a tubular projection attached to the U-shaped member extending through an aperture in the printed wiring board. A cover is provided and retained in engagement with the U-shaped member by a plurality of cover projections engaging depressions in a cover receiving ledge formed in the U-shaped member. The enclosure is adapted to be positioned relative to a relay structure by a longitudinal rib attached to the base of the U-shaped member. A fastener extends through the cover and the tubular projection, and engages the relay structure to affix the enclosure to the relay structure.

Protective cover for a hybrid circuit switching device

A printed wiring card stiffener bracket comprised of a single piece frame and having slotted tab and fastener arrangements for securing the stiffener bracket to the printed wiring card. The stiffener bracket includes blade arms which bear against the printed wiring card preventing distortion and warpage of the card and assisting in the insertion of the card in a card file. A cover interlockingly engages tabs on the stiffener bracket providing protection to the underlying components and added rigidity to the stiffener bracket.

A printed wiring card stiffener bracket including a handle portion and a stiffener frame portion having novel slotted tab and fastener arrangements for securing the stiffener bracket to the printed wiring card. The stiffener frame portion includes blade arms which bear against the printed wiring card preventing distortion and warpage of the card and assisting in the insertion of the card in a card file.

A tool for extracting a printed circuit card from a holder the latter having top and bottom guide tracks and a rear wall having contacts engageable by terminal tabs on the card, comprised of a long tubular shaft having a mounting body rotatably connected on one end and a U-shaped linkage assembly pivotally mounted along the lower portion of the shaft. The mounting body includes a pair of magnets and a retainer clip disposed to mount on the top guide track and a pair of spring guides mounted below the magnets which stradle the circuit card to be extracted. The U-shaped linkage includes a notched area in each arm arranged to interlockingly engage similar notches on a circuit card stiffener or handle. A pulling force applied to the shaft extracts the card from the holder and its associated contacts.

Circuit card extractor

A tool for extracting a printed circuit card from a holder the latter having top and bottom guide tracks and a rear wall having contacts engageable by terminal tabs on the card, comprised of a long tubular shaft having a mounting body rotatably connected on one end and a linkage assembly pivotally mounted on opposite end. The mounting body includes a pair of magnets and a retainer clip disposed to mount on the top guide track and a pair of spring guides mounted below the magnets which stradle the circuit card to be extracted. The linkage includes a notched area arranged to interlockingly engage a similar notch on a circuit card stiffener or handle. A pulling force applied to the shaft extracts the card from the holder and its associated contacts.

A reed relay is constructed by first depositing a layer of an electrically conductive material substantially over an encapsulated reed switch. Terminals are laser welded to the conductive layer and a laser beam is used to cut a continuous pitch spiral from the conductive layer to simulate a conventional control winding.

Construction of a printed wiring card mountable reed relay

A magnetic latching reed relay including a single continuous control winding disposed about an encapsulated reed switch having a pair of reeds constructed of a remanent magnetic material. The reeds are normally biased in an open position. When a first pulse of current, of a certain amplitude, is applied to the control winding a magnetic flux field is generated which magnetically saturates the reed blades, producing magnetic poles of opposite polarity at the contacting ends of the reeds which overcomes the normal mechanical bias of the blades, closing the contacts. A second pulse of current of an opposite direction and of approximately half the amplitude of the first pulse is then applied to the control winding and a reverse magnetic flux field is generated which is insufficient to magnetically saturate the reed blades and the magnetic polarity established thereby being also insufficient to overcome the normal spring bias of the blades, thus allowing the blades to return to the normal or open position.

Control winding for a magnetic latching reed relay

A tool and method for installing a flexible tube between two or more glass encapsulated reed switches of a multi-capsule reed relay switching assembly. The tool is formed from a steel wire in a wedge shaped structure, adapted to compress when the tubing is fitted over it, exerting pressure against the inside wall of the tubing and narrowing the tubing into an egg-shaped configuration. This allows the insertion of the tubing between the reed capsules with a minimum of interference.

Tool and method for installing flexible tubing in a multi-capsule reed

A tool and method for installing a flexible tube between two or more glass encapsulated reed switches of a multi-capsule reed relay switching assembly. The tool includes a rectangular horizontally oriented insertion member with a billhook raised at one end. The rectangular insertion member is arranged to narrow the tubing into a slightly egg-shaped configuration when the tubing is fitted over it. The billhook is adapted to partially penetrate an inside wall of the tubing allowing the tool to essentially drag the tubing into place. During installation the tubing collapses against the insertion member reducing the amount of initial interference between the tubing and the glass reed capsules.

A molded plastic retainer for securing a permanent biasing magnet in position inside the core of a multi-capsule reed relay assembly, wherein the retainer secures the magnet by an interference fit between the magnet and an inner core wall. The retainer includes fins which position the reed capsules against the magnet.
