A flow measurement device is provided. The flow measurement device comprising a rigid housing defining a flow channel having a channel input and a channel output, the flow channel being configured to allow a fluid medium to flow from the channel input to the channel output; a moving member hingeably mounted within the flow channel, and extending transverse to a direction of flow of the fluid medium, the moving member comprising a moving member magnet, the moving member operatively moving on exposure to a drag force resultant from fluid passing in the flow channel, where the moving member is formed from a flexible supporting structure forming a living hinge, the moving member magnet being coupled to the flexible supporting structure; a fixed magnet, provided at least proximal to a side-wall of the flow channel, the fixed magnet having like polarity with respect to moving member magnet, and being arranged to operatively exert a repulsive force on the moving member magnet thereby limiting its displacement proportionally to the magnitude of the drag force exerted by the fluid flow, so to linearise a relationship between a rate of flow of the fluid medium and moving member displacement; and a sensing element located relative to the moving member and configured to provide an output indicative movement of the moving member within the flow channel.

Compact target flow meter

A nipple-shield mounted sensor with associated electronic interface and interconnect for measurement and display of milk flow and volume during breastfeeding. The sensor is mounted in the tip of the nipple-shield in order to minimise intrusion between mother and child. The sensor can be mounted transverse or parallel to the milk flow in the channel depending on the selected sensing technology. The dimensions of the sensor and associated cabling are such that the device does not appear substantially different to a nipple-shield alone, thereby having minimal impact on the feeding session. Microlitre flow levels are measured directly by the sensor in order to relay accurate, real-time information on milk volume back to the feeding mother. The electronics unit amplifies the sensor input and digitally processes the data with software algorithms to determine the fluid volume, and can be directly integrated in the shield or can constitute an external module depending on the nature of the sensing technology integrated in the flow channel.

Microsensor-based breastfeeding volume measurement device

Sensor-based breastfeeding volume measurement device

A desktop printing apparatus () for 3-D printing an object comprising: a print module () and a build module () provided in-line in a unitary housing. The print module comprising one or more print heads (') for printing a portion of a medium () to define a media layer () of the object. The build module a build plate (), and cutting means (), bonding means and adhesive dispensing means () for building the 3D object from a plurality of media layers. The apparatus further comprising a medium transport passage defined in the housing between a medium input and medium output, and a transport means () to continuously transport the medium from the medium input along the medium transport passage through the print module for printing and subsequently to the build module for profiling and bonding to define a media layer of the object.

Desktop printing apparatus for 3D printing an object and duplex printing module

Provided is a Layered Object Manufacturing, LOM, system configured to assemble a plurality of individual media layers to form a colored three-dimensional (3D) object, the system comprising a printer configured to color print at least a portion of a first surface of each of a plurality of media layers, and color print a corresponding portion of a second surface of the media layer, the second surface being opposite to the first surface, such that on operably printing the second surface a print-through region in the media layer is provided, and a collator configured to assemble the plurality of the individual media layers to form the 3D object. Also provided is a color 3D object media layer printing module for providing a print-through region in a 3D object media layer. Also provided is an ink for use in a Layer Object Manufacturing (LOM) system including the printing module.

Colour 3-dimensional printing

Provided is a Layered Object Manufacturing, LOM, system configured to form a colored three-dimensional (3D) object, the system comprising: a 3D object gamut mapping module configured to define a 3D object formed from a plurality of surfaces and provide a printing regime consistent with the defined 3D object, wherein the 3D object gamut mapping module is configured to analyze the orientation of a surface of each of a plurality of media layers to be printed in order to adaptively modify the color printed to that layer; and a printer configured to color print at least a portion of a first surface of each of the plurality of layers in accordance with the printing regime. Also provided is a color 3D object media layer printing module for providing a print-through region in a 3D object media layer. Also provided is a 3D object gamut mapping method, and ink for use in a Layer Object Manufacturing (LOM) system including the printing module.

Colour 3-dimensional printing with 3D gamut mapping

A digital bit-level repeater for joining two wired-AND buses such as the IC bus is described. A protocol detector is used for tracking clock and data signals to determine the direction of the transfer. A state machine reads and regenerates the clock lines of both buses and provides the clock-stretching protocol feature on both buses. The repeater is designed to pass data bits from one bus to the other transparently when possible, and to latch and hold each data bit until the receiving bus can be clocked when clock-stretching occurs or when the bus is turned around.
