Example methods, apparatuses and systems are disclosed for monitoring and tracking goods flowing through a supply chain. In this regard, goods may be associated with one or more monitoring nodes for monitoring various parameters such as conditions associated with an environment of the goods. The data packets may be altered such that, in an operation, only a portion of data packet including relevant contextual information associated with the telemetry data may be transmitted to the server.

An example method includes retrieving, by a processor of a network establishment service, a monitoring node identifier (MID) corresponding to a monitoring node associated with a particular monitoring platform, wherein the MID comprises a private token unique to the monitoring node. The example method further includes identifying, by node configuration circuitry of the network establishment service and based on information regarding the monitoring node, a preferred gateway node for communicating with the monitoring node. The example method further includes logically pairing, by the node configuration circuitry of the network establishment service, the monitoring node with the preferred gateway node, and transmitting, by communications circuitry of the network establishment service, the association information to the preferred gateway node. A device management system is comprised of a server-side proxy component and at least one back-end computer. The server-side proxy component is configured to receive ephemeris and almanac data from a source and information from at least one client describing the geographic location of the client. The server-side proxy component is configured to send the ephemeris and almanac data and the information from the client to a back-end computer. Responsive to receiving this data and information, the computer compiles it into GPS data relevant to the location of the client.

Devices, methods, and software are disclosed for an adaptive video capture decode system that efficiently manages a stream of image frames between a device display screen and a processor performing decode attempts on decodable features in the image frames. In an illustrative embodiment, a device assigns frames of image data from a stream of frames of image data to either a display subsystem or a decode subsystem. The display subsystem is operative for rendering the frames of image data on a display screen. The decode subsystem is operative for receiving frames of image data and performing an attempted decode of a decodable indicia represented in at least one of the frames of image data. None of the frames of data are assigned to both the display subsystem and the decode subsystem.

An encoded information reading (EIR) terminal can comprise a microprocessor, a memory communicatively coupled to the microprocessor, an EIR device, a multi-band antenna, and a wireless communication interface. The EIR reading device can be provided by a bar code reading device, an RFID reading device, and/or a card reading device. The EIR device can be configured to output raw message data comprising an encoded message and/or output decoded message data corresponding to an encoded message. The wireless communication interface can be configured to support at least two wireless communication protocols. The multi-band antenna can be configured to simultaneously receive two or more radio signals in two or more frequency regulatory domains. The EIR terminal can be configured to dynamically select a wireless communication network and/or a wireless communication protocol by optimizing a value of a wireless communication protocol selection criterion which can be based on said two or more radio signals.

A decodable indicia reading system can be provided for use in locating and decoding a bar code symbol represented within a frame of image data. The system can comprise a central processing unit (CPU), a memory communicatively coupled to the CPU, and two or more image sensors communicatively coupled to the CPU or to the memory. The system can be configured to select an image sensor for indicia reading by cycling through available image sensors to detect an image sensor suitable for an attempted indicia reading operation by comparing a measured parameter value to a pre-defined sensor-specific threshold value. The system can be further configured to select the first suitable or the best suitable image sensor for the attempted decodable indicia reading operation based upon the comparison result. The system can be further configured to notify the system operator which image sensor has been selected. The system can be further configured to obtain a decodable indicia image by the selected image sensor.
